Is having people pay you to be in a porn breaking the law ?

Obviously prostitution is illegal, however if someone was paying you to be in a porno movie that was filmed and they got a tape or pictures of the scene would that be considered illegal ? In my opinion I would have to say no, but I would love to see some people with a legal background state their stance on the issue if a client brought the question to them.

MIKE AI, you out there ? You would be one person would think would be really knowledgable in this area given your history in the business and knowledge of the laws.

Its all up to the judge.

rml1608 03-13-2008 02:58 PM

Obviously, I'm asking about legal statutes though ....

You can ask the Judge when your standing in front of him. Ignorance of the Law is no excuse. If you tell the Judge you were just working he will give you a fine job in the county jail for about 90 days.

It's not the film that makes it legal, its the contract.

It also helps to be in California

Quit being sophomoric

And my recent 10 day stint was more than enough jail time for me, tyvm

in most US states, it is considered illegal to have sex for pay, regardless if it is filmed or not.
california is somewhat free of that as there was a trial where it was proven/won that porn is an art and not a form of prostitution.

Dave, thanks for the case mention - I don't think it would do me much good though as this would take place initially in IL which is not nerly as liberal of a state as California is. California, as someone mentioned, is about the best place to be as a pornographer.

However, working in places where it isn't the best place and setting precedents can be very rewarding (granted you lose a lot of it in legal fees!)

Mike's living the life I SHOULD BE - Hindsight is 20/20 though heh ....

Interesting Link about pimping/running brothels/prostituting and the penalties of each state in the U.S. including some federal laws. Illinois actually isn't that rough on you ...
