Post your Bad Experience With Joel

It seems that Joel has pissed off more than his share of people on this board and in our industry. I think it's time people know what a scumbag this guy is.

I've got a BOOK i can write on this guy.

I wouldn't know where to start. Here are a few:

-He use to double cross Jeff and Gavin by giving people higher % on the busty amateurs revshare in exchange for traffic to his webmaster resource site. I'm sure Jeff and Gavin had no idea about that.

- he loved using his BA power and threatening to close accounts. When you called him on his bluff and said "Go ahead close it" he'd say no but watch yourself. I'm sure a few old webmasters will know what I'm talking about.

- When BA closed he had the webmaster list that he was shopping around. It was funny how he was shopping it around for 4 or 5 different prices. Lying to every single prospective buyer.

- He thought that if he got daizie to call me I'd melt and hand over the domain. That's an insult of my intelligence.

- He's continually tried to get us to stop promoting his main competition -- BigNaturals and Scoreland. Both of those sites are very solid and are money in the bank. Joel has done nothing but try to run down their name to us. Bringing up ludicrous claims and made up a number of lies regarding them.

- From posts and emails I've read he treats every webmaster like shit and is two faced with everyone. The minute you turn your back he is talking shit about you and trying to make a buck by exposing you.

I've got a bunch more. I thought these would get the ball rolling. So let's hear your Joel story.

I signed up to Want Boobs using epoch a while back and submitted one gallery and one avs site as a test. You know those "Join Now for $7.95" links all over the front page? Half of them took my user id out of the links when clicked. That's damn near 50% shave. I got no sign ups btw. My link code was something like wantboobs.com/8/index.html and then when you got to the signup page my userid would replace the 8. Well a week or so later i went back to look at my gallery, followed the link and saw that the /8/ no longer went to my userid, but someone else's.

- When BA closed he had the webmaster list that he was shopping around. It was funny how he was shopping it around for 4 or 5 different prices. Lying to every single prospective buyer.

This one happened to us. There are always two sides to any story and I am sure Joel's perspective on this one is that he was dealing with all potential buyers straightup, but I was left with the distinct feeling we were not treated well and were just a tool to make Truecash ante up higher.

I have no idea about your guys past with Joel but I have been doing work for him for about a 1 1/2 years and not once have I had any bad dealings with him.

We tells me what he wants I do it and always get paid. Its been
like that since day one.

I will admit sometimes he does like to stick his foot in his mouth on GFY and I dont know why but overall I have had no negative business deals with him ever.

After reading the "hosted gallery" post I entered the thread full intending to promote them but after seeing how it turned out, changed my mind.

It's one thing to have a disagreement with someone, even confusion regarding the templates but threatening to not pay and changing his password to FORCE him to contact them because the webmaster didn't want to.

well... that's EXTORTION

Not cool and not someone I would want to do business with.

I'll never understand why these people hire photographers, graphic designers, programmers, etc.. but don't recognize the importance of a good professional, trained PR person.

As for Joel, I've known the cat for a long time and he's been a straight shooter with me as long as I can recall. He taught me a decent amount about this business when I was just starting out.

As for this other stuff, these guys are bigger fish than I and I knwo Boss and Shap and those guys are straight shooters too, and fair as a motherfucker so I'd ahev to say this is probably a personal dispute that doesn't belong here.

Thanks Quiet! I agree, Frankie is a stand up guy. We've done business with him in the past, and will most definitely be doing business in the future

One thing that I find funny is that only a few established webmasters have stuck up for Joel. Other then that he had to call up a dumb stripper to post in his defense.
