GFY, slowest site on the internet?
 

Everyday GFY is the slowest site I use. For a site targeting webmasters it's pathetic ......................

It has gotten pretty bad over the last few days.

Yea it's pretty slow compared to most sites.

The last few days its been soooo sloooow. Worse than Myspace.

Yeah, it's been pretty slow lately. I wouldn't call it the slowest site on the internet, though.

Contact the hosting company with your suggestions on how it can be better.

I don't think anything can be slower than Myspace

GFY is terrible, has been like this for as long as I can remember. One would think they can afford a better setup :2 cents:

I don't think I've visited MySpace more than 6 times but it looks like when creating their pages there the dudes think something like: "hey, can I stuff 300 gifs + 179 annoying midi songs on one single page? well, lets find out!"

hehe so very true :) I took to surfing myspace with my speakers off and if I open more than one profile, images turned off. :)

agreed... its been fine for a while, but lately timing out and database errors all the time

with the $10k a pop or whatever they get for running these shit awful skins you'd think for sure they could speed the forum up a little. gfy makes it's entire profit off the fact that we all come here, and they make coming here sooo damn laggy...

GFY hasn't been too bad for me but it has its times where it just freezes up on me too.

Yeah... it is a massive maze of spam. takes time to load that shit

You can't say it's slow because of the size of the forum, there are plenty of mainstream forums than can handle 10-20k logged in users at a time and aren't nearly as slow as GFY.

And a lot of those have all kinds of features you think would slow them down, user avatars, large signature files, last read in thread features, etc...
