6 hour drive in seriously heavy rain high winds

and finally I am home from my few days of vacation. Did I miss anything good? I mean, other than the complete rearrangement of Max Cash staff..lol

I think I need to go dry out a bit..nasty weather in the UK today.

Yeah the weather has been pretty shitty here in the Uk We got stuck in traffic for 40 min when it normally take 5 min to get home and this was the reason, Some new offices they are building had this big lump wood half blown off the roof so they had closed the road incase in blew off. The coastal road was also closed because the waves had gone right over the road and dumped a load of shingle all over it. Glad you you got home safe and sound. We took these pics while waiting in the traffic. We took these pics while waiting in the traffic

Not sure if you know the Dartford Bridge but we have to go over that on pretty much the last leg of our journey home (don't live far from it..about 10 minutes). We were listening to the radio and it kept getting closed because of the high winds. It is the kind of bridge that feels a bit wobbly on a good day. Luckily, when we got to it it was open but I had to close my eyes (I wasn't the driver) the whole way over it so that I didn't go into high panic mode with all the lorries swaying next to us.

Yeah I know what you are talking about Its not a nice feeling, We went down to the south coast so I could film the angry sea.. but what a big mistake that was so many roads were closed. We were going to go down to Hayling Island as they got the worst of the storm but I changed my mind with all the traffic jams ..next time I will walk down to our local beach when a storm like this hits..:) The north are going to get it bad again tonight I think

When I read the first post I was wondering if you were driving and I was going to comment that this was a really sucky way for you to learn to drive. :winkwink:

BTW, I need to add you back on to ICQ - I totally hosed my ICQ up and will do it tomorrow, BUT the City of God people have put out City of Men and it's getting great reviews!!

Is City of Men the tv series? If so, it has been out a few years and I did enjoy it. Sort of like similar setting but different stories and they take it into 'regular' Brazil now and then too. Some of the same actors pop up but in different characters?

Have you read the book? It was on sale at a shop the other day but I didn't want to feel let down since I am such a fan of the film.

Movie - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0870090/ though I see I can watch the TV show on Netflix - thanks for letting me know about it :)

I can't read a book after I've seen the movie :(

Just IMDBed it - UK release date 11 April 2008. I hope it gets a fairly broad release so I can go see it. I missed seeing City of God in the cinema. I actually tried to but it was sold out time after time. Which, for a world cinema film, was great to see.

It looks like the series has continued to run past when the box set I saw finished. Hopefully, they put out a disc with the episodes after that.

on the news it looked like you were having a hurricane over there!

Glad you made it home safe.

The UK always looks like it's old just because of the grey skies. It's always so gloomy looking.

Not always and it depends what part of the UK. London in the summer can be bright and lovely. But, Winter is not the time for bright and sunny.

It is pretty nasty at the moment..very high winds. Apparently the East coast of the States had this a few days ago. So, thanks for sharing guys.
