serious rumours bout a big US bank closing, oil over 107, another interest rate cut and hedgefunds goin to hell

Leaving for Phoenix in 2 weeks, Im really wondering if Ill see anything in the US that indicates bad economy or if ppl are just gonna go to rent-a-tire one more time

jollyperv 03-10-2008 10:16 AM

I'm about to go to Europe with my band for a month, the exchange rate is gonna rule when we get back and cash in all our euros from the tour

Itll change Im sure

We had some serious shit where the British Pound was worth 10 us$. Its just every time you think it hit rock bottom some shit hits the fan again.

Theres nothing on CNN yet but if this is true and a major US bank is declaring bankruptcy then thats gonna affect us all.

directfiesta 03-10-2008 10:29 AM

if oil had euro's as official currency, it would be much better for all countries, aside from the USA and whoever has that currency as their official currency ...:2 cents:

AssPirate 03-10-2008 10:32 AM

it will definitely affect us...why is this really happening? oh well what else can we do about this? nothing? even though we do have things in mind nothing can be done...

hmm

if people in the US would actually PAY for goods they purchase instead of putting everything on a lease or loan that would help as well.

Mind you were getting that too, no rent a tire here yet but paying off your holiday in 10 yrs is something thats already possible here.

Id rather stick with cash. A LOT of people are gonna end up with a morgage, car or loan they cant afford anymore in a few months. :2 cents:

there are many issues, unfortunately all countries are pointing at each other and most act upon this in the wrong way imho. Just watch till the fed lowers the rate again.

klinton 03-10-2008 10:43 AM

maybe it won't be that bad....
situation should be better in 1,5 year i think....
but there is still 1,5 yr ahead us :)

Yeah, figured it's gonna be pretty expensive, but we've got guarantees worked out for each show that should be able to sustain us. How are gas prices over there? We'll be spending alot of time in Germany, Spain and France.

gandalfuy 03-10-2008 02:44 PM

man! is getting higher and higher!

beta-tester 03-10-2008 04:00 PM

joefriday 03-10-2008 07:00 PM

That will totally suck.

malakajoe 03-10-2008 07:03 PM

Thank you Bush, Neo-cons, and everyone who voted for him once or twice.

Gas prices are at around 8$ per gallon with a current exchange rate of 1.55

Zuss 03-12-2008 07:44 AM

Oh and by the way, the dollar is said to be fall down to 1.60 after the next interest rate cut in the US

1.53300 * 3.78541178 * 1.55 = 8.9947062

$9 per gallon

welcome to Holland :)

I'm not sure you'll SEE much but if you ask around you'll HEAR stuff. Most of the business owners I know say they are having a bad year; some a terrible year. My dry cleaner is having a slow year. Many of the people I know who work in the service industry say it has been slow. People seem to be going out to clubs less and so on.

same here they all say "well Im good no harm here" but what really expresses it is how ppl shop for groceries here. We have a few pricey supermarkets and a few cheap ones, compare say AJs to Piggly Wiggly.

If you go to our version of Piggly Wiggle youll suddenly see ppl pulling up in a Mercedes S class to "check" if prices are really that low. Theyre ashamed but still more n more ppl shop at the cheaper supermarkets and leave the gourmet stuff behind. Thats a typical sign here to tell recession hit.

Ross 03-12-2008 08:48 AM

The UK is getting impossible these days as well. Something as little as 6 eggs have risen 30% in the last year alone. Milk and Bread is going up too quick. Imagine what its like trying to buy a house then?? A galleon of fuel is over $9 as well.

Young people in normal jobs can't afford to leave home till they're either sharing or moving in with a partner. In my town 2 bedroom appartments are costing over $250K. I really hate my country. If anyone can tell me a way of getting a US Visa I'll pay them $2000!

campimp 03-12-2008 08:53 AM

living in romanian, but making my money in dollars sucks i can assure you

and as for the guy commenting on having lots of money when he goes home from europe tour.... i can assure you, that most countries over here are pretty fuckign expensive.

that includes romania. it used to be cheap for me to live here... now i could live cheaper back in the states.. which is exactly what i will be doing soon enough

just hope you arent headed for Italy... goddamn that place is expensive!

DanielS 03-12-2008 09:01 AM

I earn in USD and I'm moving to europe this year. What's worse than that?

I think it's time to bill EUR 30 per join :)
