Scan Buy: This is pretty damn cool. Anyone use it yet?
Download ScanBuy into your cellphone and the next time you?re in an electronics store, use your camera phone to take a photo of a product?s bar code. Scan Buy checks it over the Internet and responds to your phone, letting you know where you can get it cheaper. And if it?s cheaper online, there?s likely to be a link for ordering - one click of the cellphone and the product is on its way to your doorstep.

Now that sounds bloody awesome - fuck the sales person... this is a great way to use those competition deals against the store and get it 5 or 10% cheaper than that period!
|

|

Try with an electronic device. Go price a TV or something. |
i have an webapp on my iphone called barCode .. i enter the barcode
it pulls up reviews of the item from amazon and i can get a price range from that |
why not just enter the barcode #'s? Would seem to be easier, and less conspicuous since most stores won't let you take photos in them.
|
no iphone support

that is pretty neat. Once their database etc gets filled up with more products that can come in really handy.
|
There's another service that's been doing this for quite some time, you just call them instead of taking the picture. And it works on all phones ;)
http://www.frucall.com/ edit - now I see you can do more than just call them :) |
isnt everything cheaper online rather than stores
:2cents |

They usually mean the price has been discounted for a short period of time. |
Wow... that sounds awesome
|
damn, no palm?
|
Not bad, it's not a new technology though, my 1-2 years old SE P990I phone can if you take a picture of a business card find all the relevant details and store it under a new contact, pretty sweet feature and it works.
BAR codes should not be a big problem, majority of products will have their BAR code registered and therefor it will be unique as well since the cost of registering a bar code is a lot lower than to reprint all boxes it is written on if someone else got the same bar code registered |
so from now on people will shop at best buy and future shop because the price guarrentee will mean you will always get the best price.
