Why upgrade? They'll just add lots of bugs there, will wait for 2.5.2

Jens Van Assterdam 03-09-2008 04:35 AM

It has been a busy week again for WordPress 2.5, the changes this week were:

* Changes to make sure that a plugin is a file before loading (#5822).
* Addition of a new hooks called 'submit{post|page|link}_box' in the submit boxes (#5873).
* Add optional $post_ID argument to the_category() and get_the_category_list() (#5050).
* Changes to make user option name sanitization consistent (#5901).
* Introduction of a new 'admin_init' action to allow plugins to do admin panel specific initialisation (#5924).
* A change to not save translated role names to the Database. Instead, translating them on the fly. (#3442 #5537).
* A new 'pre_post_update' action that runs just prior to saving an edited post (#5815).
* Allow the comment object to be passed to get_avatar() for convenience (#5775).
* Changes to make sure post has future status before publishing from cron (#5801).
* Addition of bulk role change to the User management page ([6990]).
* Update to TinyMCE v3.01 (#5944).
* Work on an automated installer for plugins (#5586).
* Lots of work on the new media library (#5911).

* Bugs...

Scotty.T 03-09-2008 04:40 AM

I've got to say I am not too impressed with the look of the new admin area, especially for writing posts.

I think I will lose a lot of productivity because of the layout.

Violetta 03-09-2008 05:15 AM

mine works fine as it is...

Dennis69 03-09-2008 06:39 AM

Here we go again... I hate Wordpress!

evildick 03-09-2008 09:25 AM

Are there a bunch of security fixes this time?

I really don't feel like upgrading everything again, unless there are some important security fixes.

Shaze 03-09-2008 09:32 AM

i think i'll wait awhile.

I got the same thing:

this is the message on that link

"Say What?

Sorry, the page you?re looking for isn?t here. But don?t lose hope. You can search or browse for what you?re looking for in the archives."

Another update... Jeezzzz! I need to hire someone just for updates someday...

X37375787 03-09-2008 10:18 AM

I am not touching my running 2.3.3 release with a 10 feet pole. Everything works as intended and I don't want to run the risk of having my custom plugins stop working.

TheSenator 03-09-2008 11:45 AM

WorpPress has put food on my table. Can't complain.

Boobs 03-09-2008 12:16 PM

they come out with an update every week, its pretty annoying

LivePornBlog 03-09-2008 12:19 PM

It is free open source software though, lets be happy they keep developing it. Now I don't know about this next release but time to test er out on a sample blog

Forkbeard 03-09-2008 12:22 PM

I tend to update a working wordpress install only when it fails me, usually when I want to add a plug-in that needs a newer version.

Updating just because there's a new version out is a mug's game.

woj 03-09-2008 12:50 PM

Does anyone know if any plugins are effected?

I hated when updating earlier versions and plugins how it would break my links so it was a big hassle

all of these updates are getting annoying, I don't have the time for this

anyone have any luck with alternatives? textpattern maybe?

cherrylula 03-09-2008 01:36 PM

blogger is so much better, wordpress such a hassle.

TheSenator 03-09-2008 01:56 PM

Would Apache 2.2 with PHP 5.2.5 work good with the latest WordPress?
I am thinking of upgrading.

What are you guys currently running now?
