namecheap = no phone number?

WTF? I was about to transfer because they are a lot cheaper than godaddy if you want privacy guard but there isnt a god damn phone number. I'm not impressed.

D 03-08-2008 01:35 PM

Maybe it's a private number. :winkwink:

tranza 03-08-2008 01:36 PM

Since when are they a lot cheaper than GoDaddy??

scottybuzz 03-08-2008 01:39 PM

I have noticed they are pretty dam quick with email questions, but if you really after to chat with someone using vocal coards then i cant help you.

I said if you want privacy guard. If you don't, it isn't.

evildick 03-08-2008 01:40 PM

Ya, no support phone numbers at all. Kind of a pain in the ass if you have any serious problems.

starpimps 03-08-2008 01:47 PM

hmmm..i was considering transferring some domains there too...i just emailed support asking for a phone number..

...very strange

Why would you need a phone number?
I've transfered tons of domains to them and bought a bunch of new ones. All went flawlessly.

Tempest 03-08-2008 06:48 PM

namecheap support is pretty quick.. there's a phone number in the whois info.. I thought they added live support on the site recently..

He was implying that by your statement you also wouldn't do business with Google. Namecheap's email support is quicker than GoDaddy's phone support.

They don't offer support from those numbers. I tried calling those one time and all you get is an answering machine and they don't return your call if you leave a message asking for support.

99.9% of the time you wouldn't need to call them.

But if you happen to set off a red flag somehow in their fraud detection, it would come in handy. This happened to me when I first started using them. I purchased about 6 or 7 adult domains all on one day, so this must have looked suspicious to them.

Was a pain in the ass for me because once you trigger their fraud system, the only way you can get your account unlocked is to have them call you at home on the number you have listed in the whois. I never seemed to be home when they called so this went on for a week, and they couldn't arrange a specific time to make the call. They wouldn't let me call them, I had to be home when they called me or they wouldn't unfreeze the account.

Eventually I ended up having to email them a scan of my credit card and driver's license. Would have been much easier if I could have just called them on the phone.

Call Enom and see if they can answer your question. That's who Namecheap is an affiliate reseller for.

RichardK 03-18-2008 08:15 AM

Hello all, we have real, live 24/7 chat support here:

https://support.namecheap.com/livesupport.php

That is available ANY time and all the time.

If there are any major issues or emergencies, all the techs need to do is escalate them to the proper person.

We will also be adding 24/7 phone support soon.

Also to the last poster. We are now an official ICANN accredited registrar.

It's another reason why you should use Moniker. They have a toll free and international customer service line.

:thumbsup

I'm in the process of moving all my domains over to namecheap as we speak. It has been very stressful because of the assfuck that runs domainnamesystems/cheapies, but namecheap has been very helpful and responsive.

PS. Don't touch domainnamesystems/cheapies with a ten foot pole, that guy is a complete prick.

And you sir are a spammer including your affiliate code. Nice to see the folks at Moniker support his sort of action but then again, this is nothing new.

I guess if it's ok with Monte their ceo it's ok with the rest of his minions. Classy organization.

Hello Polish, any previously regged domains will remain at enom until you choose to transfer them. It's up to you as we will not pressure you to make a change. You will not see a difference in your control panel or in how you manage your domains.

All new registrations are now using our own dns system.

signupdamnit 03-18-2008 08:50 AM

I usually use an old one from here. Directnic. I've had to call twice. Both times I had a human on the line within 3 minutes who spoke perfect English and resolved my problems right away with no bullshit whatsoever.
