Sykpe vs ICQ?
 

Used to get great service from many companies via ICQ, but in the past couple years a select few have dumped it for Skype and trouble ticket systems..

so far for me this has sucked major ass...

trouble tickets seem to rarely get responded to, and because ICQ has always worked for me the best (and the most popular among webmasters), i just can't be forced to move to skype...

anyone have an opinion on this???

icq has not been nice to me in the past few years.
i registered icqsux.com because i was made one day i couldn't connect.
but >90% of us use icq, so we have no choice.

skype is different story...

i love it... am sure many do too.
i just wish there are more of us who use skype mainly.

Skype all the way for me, I use ICQ just because everyone else does.

I dumped ICQ. Only AIM and Skype now.

I still think AIM is the best but Skype is quickly becoming my favorite except for when i accidentally call people.

oh and skyped in is the shit. i can be in north korea and get phone calls on my LA #.

there is an option where you can change your default to 'chat' instead of 'call'
if that's what you meant by accidentally call people.

icq has always had problems but became the choice of adult webmasters,lets hope that skype or another communications method replaces it soon.

I just don't want to interact via voice with anyone on the computer...

Seriously. This is kind of an escape from what I do all day which is talking to people... I much rather type to people on my own terms and when I want to instead of having a real time conversation which would feel awkward.

i love skype

love my skype on the mac, but its just not that comfortable when your not at home. Sitting in starbucks and speaking over skype may gets annoying for everyone else. so it depends on the situation for me.

I prefer Skype over ICQ cause:

- unlimited contacts per account. ICQ has limit.
- better emoticons:)
- no annoying guitar riff everytime someone has a birthday:mad:
- Skype supports multi-chat with more than one party
- Great way to send large files
- Unlike ICQ, sound alerts for IM are bearable
- Good quality FREE p2p voice AND video calls anywhere:thumbsup

Furthermore, Skype In gives you a virtual presence anywhere. I have a US San Fransisco number that routes to me here in Spain.

In short, Skype rocks:thumbsup
