The Real Persian Kitty going under the knife
 

I'm on pins and needles tonight.. Smokey, the real persian kitty... the reason the site name is what it is... goes under the knife for exploratory surgery in the morning. He's got a strange lump near his liver and he's lost almost 2 lbs in the last 18 months. He's almost 14 years old, but geeezzz.. can't they just live forever?

1 month ago 2 of my birds past away.
3 beatiful african grays, 2 of them past away on the same day and the other one past away a day after.

I was really upset and hurt.

I really like Persians

I am not a cat person myself (prefer dogs) but I wish the best for the pet. Losing any person or any animal that you love, is not a good experience. :thumbsup to the cat.

I hope everything goes OK, exploritory surgery is scary. Hopefully, you have a great vet. I think some are less careful than others.

my cousin in portland has pet rats (i used to have them too) and they only have a life span of about 3 years

and every time one dies she always calls me and tells me that she'll never get another one because she can't go through the emotions of watching them die after only 3 years

and i always say to her what i've said to you PK

My old girl had a big lump on her side. The vet said it was probably cancer and would have to be removed. I said fuck it... let nature take it's course, she's 14yrs old.

That was two years ago... right now she's lying on the floor next to me snoring.

Kitty is lucky.

I am so sorry! Greys are incredible. I "lost" mine in a divorce...miss her all the time. You expect a bird like that to outlive you. I hope I can talk my sweetie into adopting a grey some day. They're no small responsibility. ;)
