Anyone drives a Mustang?

Kinda love the look of the new mustang but iam fucking afraid to call a fucking ford dealer! I mean its a ford, no bmw, mercedes or porsche. So whats the quality about in such a car? Never ever drove something like a ford or a gm in my life. So whats your expirience with this baby? Its worth the bucks? Or do i have to pay like 100k just to have a navigation, good leather and shit like that?

they are nice but the interior has a very cheap feel to it. I went recently to inquire about teh GT Conv since i am not to happy with the power of my boxster but when you compare interiors... no comparison You would think for $30k Ford would give you a nice interior and the SYNC DOES NOT come on the mustang : ( I am waiting to see what improvements are made for 2009 model, if any.

As far as quality, Mustangs as far as i know have always been good, reliable cars from what i hear. Both v6 and v8 are workhorses...

If I were to buy an American, I would wait for another year and get me a camaro.

Yea, my Mustang is 39 years old and probably has less rust than whatever you drive.

wyldblyss 03-07-2008 08:15 AM

I have owned 3 mustangs and loved them all.

jerzeemedia 03-07-2008 08:19 AM

I've got 2. Most recent one is a 2004 Mach 1. Dealer kept it in their private garage, dealership owner was the one and only owner of it. Got it at 3,000 miles, perfect condition, and they don't make 'em anymore. I'll agree that the interior in some areas feels "cheap" compared to luxury cars for example around the doors I'll definitely agree with that, but look under my hood and tell me if that doesn't make up for the interior's lack of "elegance" per se. :) You buy a mustang to drive, not to chauffer. =)

MichelleB 03-07-2008 08:33 AM

All I can say is Transmission problems. Ford is notorious for that.

Mike Honcho 03-07-2008 08:36 AM

Mustangs are great cars, but if you want a lexus style interior this isnt the car for you. If your still intrested at this point, I can tell you that you'll be able to get a mustang gt with leather and navi for less then 35k if you want to buy brand new, but I'm sure you'll be able to find a used one for cheap.

HairToStay 03-07-2008 08:42 AM

1966 hardtop, totally rust-free California car. The new ones look like shit compared to the old school models.

Pony cars should be bare bones, not all that computer crap

CarlosTheGaucho 03-07-2008 08:44 AM

Since I saw Bullit Mustang is THE car for me.

I want to buy me one, yet I can't drive it around here cause I would look like a parrot in a herd of crows..

jerzeemedia 03-07-2008 08:49 AM

Find yourself a used Mach 1, thank me later. :) These bad boys really know how to roar and they're a lot of fun to drive. They can take one hell of a beating too, so don't be intimidated by it.

if you want advice from a true mustang fan, here it is.....

Dont get the new mustang, it is a CHEAP rip off of the original mustang with the "shark look in the front"

I am particularly fond of the 1999-2004 Mustang body style.

so here is my 2 cents: get a 2003 or 2004 mustang cobra (preferably 2004 because the 2003 had a problem with the left head in some cases, thus losing HP) the 2003 and 2004 has a high output 4.6 litre engine (same block size as the GT, but has a forged crank and pistons and higher performance parts) it also came stock with an eaton supercharger. It has an UNDERRATED 390RWHP and 390 torque to the wheels. There have been some cases where from the showroom floor it is running 450HP+ (thus underrated) you do a minor change such as a flowmaster exhaust with the magnapack mufflers, makes it sound good, and the type of car that you can hear from a block away.

My favorite color that they make, is called Sonic Blue, I would post pics but since I am under 30 posts I cannot do so....so just google "sonic blue mustang cobra" you'll be impressed.

CIVMatt 03-07-2008 09:25 AM

Anyone who owns a mustang should be embarrassed

Btw, its a car for semi-cute fat chicks, don't believe me? Just look around while your driving and you'll see what I mean.

true, and in the 2003-2004 mustang cobra, along with the new shelby's there is a Tremec T-56 6-speed transmission. Which is the same transmission that they use in Corvettes and Dodge Viper's

tranza 03-07-2008 09:48 AM

That first Mustang looks pretty hot...

:)

JohnnyPearl 03-07-2008 09:49 AM

I have a 92 Mustang never had a problem with it. Also looking at the new 2008 Mustang Shelby GT500 KR.

ahhh...those are really nice car....wonder when i can get one...

Rochard 03-07-2008 10:13 AM

I've driven nothing but Ford products since 1995 and I've only had one problem with them. That one problem was with my current car, a 2004 Mustang Cobra - The alternator cable shorted out, taking out the alternator and the battery. It was covered under the warranty and I got my 20k mile service done for free.

I'm guessing I've driven hundreds of thousands of miles in Ford products since 1995, including Mustangs, Escapes, and Explorers, and that's the only problem I've ever had. Everyone talks about the "poor quality" of American cars; I just don't see it.

As for the new Mustangs, they look nice, but that's not my thing. It's retro thing and I'm just not into it. I also hate the way the interior looks on the newer Mustangs.

Here's a guy to listen to... Hell I wouldn't be against buying a '96 cobra 'vert since they're so unbelievably cheap. It really depends on how mechanical you are and what your budget is. I was finding tons of the older cobra convertibles under $10k last I was looking. The 03/04 cobras are seriously badass, the guy a couple doors down from me has one and even when he granny shifts i going buy at low RPM's I know exactly what car is going by. I live on a corner so he has to stop and turn on his way out. The only mod he did to it was exhaust and I love the way it sounds.

I own a '68 coupe and had an 05 GT coupe when they first came out. I personally got sick of the car when I saw every douche in the world driving one. I prefer the old mustang thats for sure. the leather inside a mustang hasn't ever been very high grade but all your money belongs under the hood.

As far as ford transmissions, the manuals are badass and the automatics suck. This is the same for really EVERY decent powered car. the 'vette with its automatic has always had issues and the manual is pretty much bullet proof. If you're a man you can drive manual without any issues.

I love the sound of the cobra, something about it just makes me get chills.

as i mentioned earlier, just not what you quoted, i was really only concentrating on the motor. The transmission that you are referring to (only available in 2003-2004/present shelby cobra's) is called the Tremec T-56 Transmission, the same one that they use in Corevette's and Dodge Vipers. The gears/drive line are made so well that the entire car itself is meant to handle 1k HP without default. that goes for the pressure on the engine, the transmission, the drive shaft, and the gears.....very impressive.

DjiXas 03-07-2008 11:57 AM

I bet everyone who loves ford are from usa or know nothing about cars. Cheap interior, fucked up and uncomfortable.

2MuchMark 03-07-2008 12:01 PM

Hi -

I'm no big fan of the new mustangs either. I have rented a couple, driven my friend's Cobra, and test-drove a few. Only the most expensive versions are nice, but even then, they tend to feel a little cheap. When taking hard corners, it feels like its about to lose grip of the road. When hitting a turn and going over a bump, the back-end tends to slide too easily suggesting a problem with their suspension. Brakes wear out quickly, etc.

I would wait for the new Camaro's to come out next year first.

If you really can't wait and need a Mustang today, buy the best one you can and don't settle for the girlie verision.

I guess there is this exotic feel, I am all about US cars - Dodge Charger, old Camaros, Stingrays, Vipers, Corvettes, Cadillacs and many many more..

Nice cars with character and killer engines.

The same way may be Mercedes, Porsche or BMW hype in the States, it's tons of them around here so you just won't impress with a BMW or Mercedes, apart from that most of their models seem to conservative to me.

Mercedes makes a mistake that they are doing so many different models, it's no more a statut thing and you can see douchebags cruising down the streets in their sports models...

mustangs are just as much of a status thing, just for a lower class of people.

I suppose the status thing is pretty strong out there.

The same as in here, every other pawnbroker had to buy himself a white VW Passat.
