Oh lord, the pinnacle of automotive design and craftsmanship has been reached. The best in leather working and car manufacturing, can't go wrong with that.
yes, I forget the actual stats for a formula 1 car, but it something ridiculous like 0-100 then 100-0 in 3 seconds (let me know if I am wrong)
And they Veyron is faster then that.
Regardless, I don't think anything will be faster then a top fuel drag racer (again, let me know if I am wrong)
It does the 0-100-0 in just under 10 seconds. Still madly fast. And no, it doesn't compare to a top fuel dragster, not even close. Those manage 0-62 in less than a second.
I'm not a big fan of it either.... It's along the lines of a lambo made car... looks fast, nice interior but try to race it and it'll let you down BIG time. Its a fancy high powered, nice interior ROAD car for the kind of money take a different car and modify it a bit... hell I'll take a henessey viper or 12 for that price
The thing about the Veyron is that it really isn't worth the price tag if you ask me. For 7 figures one could buy a z06 put 70k in mods, and they would have a faster car for 150k, then you take the 850k and blow it in Vegas!

but then you still look like a douchebag in a z06..no class.

It would take $70k in mods to get a corvette even the v06 to go around corners... At least you could get a limited slip diff. so the rear tires last more than one lap of a track...
Much better to just buy a 911 turbo be done with it. Thats my biased opinion.
You guys really start yapping about tuned Z06 Vette's and Skylines, comparing it to the Veyron? Then you definitely don't get what this car is about. It certainly isn't about gayass 1/4 mile performance.

are you kidding? the stock Z06 turns really quite well and I've NEVER heard a 'vette called a straightline car only, if you want something with shitloads of power and can't turn stick with something like a mustang, spend $25k on the stock GT and spend $75k to make it go straight super fast LOL or just go with a lightweight kit car... shit there's plenty of options but this veyron is seriously overpriced.
Hell I'd take ANY $75k+ 2 seater and spend $75k on upgrades and be able to beat this veyron in straightline AND take both the cars to germany and do some laps on the 'ring and at least stick with it.
I agree though a porsche or ferrari are so good stock that minor mods is all it would take on those to get into veyron performance.
Anyway, sick that they loose 3 million on each car they sell.
isn't that out of context? That's NOT just the parts/assembly, that's basically including development and a bunch of other shit. The development of this machine should have simply been taken out of the marketing budget for VW.
I took these three pictures last Friday standing in the same spot only
turning to get a shot of each ride.
I had stopped to look at the Veyron. A truly remarkable machine for those that don't
ask or care how much. They purchase one because they can.
While I was standing there a guy drove by in his Z06. Another remarkable machine that I'm
sure was worth every penny to him.
Across the street in a parking lot was this old Jeep. A ton of fun and probably gives more bang for the buck
than the other two.
If I won 160 million in the lotto then hell ya I'd buy the Veyron. If I made enough I'd buy a Z06 because they're just badass.
I've had to settle for something within my budget and that's ok because I had a lot of fun driving that old Jeep home.

I had the pleasure of attending tonight's NYC Hermes Wall Street event at which this very car was presented first in the USA. I even got to sit in it!
I do not even know where to start. The car is can only be described in absolutes. Any person claiming to get the same performance from a Corvette is unbelievably ignorant and has never seen the car up close. Listening the quad turbos spin when revving the engine, the exhaust note sounds like the Veyron is ready to blow over a building.
I had the pleasure to chat with the chief developer from Germany for a good hour who talked me some through the development process of this marvelous machine. The interior takes one month to complete by the artisans at Hermes, the projected output for this model will be 10-15, 5 orders have already been placed.
P.S. The developer I spoke to called Hammond from Top Gear a lousy driver. He did not approve of his performance at the Eurofighter race! He mentioned he could have driven the mile loop a few seconds quicker. Heh..

Yeah, and you could also buy a used Miata and never work again in your life with the saved money. Do you honestly think anyone buys a 7-figure production vehicle because its a bargain
