How important is the look of a blog?
 

Going to start my own little circle of blogs. Want to start plain and build it up. If the content is good and its updated regularly is that more important than it looking good?

text is always more important than images when it comes to SE's

Mine, which gets between 2000-3000 hits per day is as plain and plain can be. It's readers don't return for it's looks, they return for the content, all100% hand written and descriptive with great pics to match.

A well designed site is always good..... When I come to a crappy site I'm quick to click off on it because it just looks like shit.

I have a celeb blog doing about 7k a day and the design is not really that spectacular, just plain and too the point, content is what my users want.
