What's The Best Musical Score ever written For a Movie?

For me it's between those written for The Good The Bad and The Ulgy and Requiem for a Dream.

GrouchyAdmin 03-02-2008 03:07 PM

You have avoid confusing soundtrack with score music. Theyre totally different things. Score from the movie "Heat", "Blade Runner" and "The English Patient" are superb.

I like any of the "Ennio Morricone" stuff like "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly".

munki 03-02-2008 04:23 PM

Highlander...

Gunni 03-02-2008 04:30 PM

I LOVE the score to "Heat." It was done by a composer named Elliot Goldenthal. However, the best piece of music in that movie IMO, is Moby's "God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters". It plays at the very end. I used to think it was Moby who did the entire score. I guess director Michael Mann replaced Goldenthal's original score at the end with that.

PantieZ 03-02-2008 04:35 PM

Everything from Hans Zimmer :2 cents:

or Vince DiCola (RockyIV or Transformers - the original)

Vendot 03-02-2008 05:13 PM

I cant remember if its score or just a soundtrack but I love the music in the movie "Manhunter". Its the movie before silence of the lambs, with William Petersen.

Also the music at the end titles for the movie "Psycho IV". Does anyone know where i can get this track - ive been looking for donkeys years. I think it was featured in a rap music track.

If you want to include musicals in the mix then it's 'My Fair Lady' hands down....

You took the words out of my mouth! Star Wars is great too! Plus, most of the tracks from any James Bond film. There's some memorable ones there.

J. Falcon 03-02-2008 11:36 PM

The Godfather is great also.

Camzgirl 03-18-2008 08:32 AM

escorpio 03-18-2008 08:36 AM

Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho"

CDSmith 03-18-2008 08:37 AM

Kill Bill.

Often movies have both a score and a soundtrack. I know I mention this movie quite often but The Warriors is one of my fav films for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that it had both an incredible score and a terrific soundtrack.

DeNovo 03-18-2008 08:39 AM

I'd recommend:

A.I. Artificial Intelligence
