500k is an awesome income. Even people making more than that would agree in the grand scheme that it's not chump change.

i made that this morning for waking up. then i got a 500k hooker for lunch and it was gone.
ehhhh. |
500k a year is tons of money and anyone who says otherwise is lying or just dumb, I'm sure even the richest of the rich still consider that much money a year to be alot of money.
|
More than enough if invested properly

It's a shitload of money. It's probably the top .00001% of the country. With just a few years of saving and proper investments, you should be able to live well the rest of your life with that kind of money.
|
Well it's more then what our state premiers are payed & more then our prime minister. Top executives earn more then that, but it's nothing to be sneezed at.

They only reason I'd question his income is because he came out shortly after and claimed he was more or less broke. Now I've seen some people who can't manage money at all, but I just can't fathom being that bad at it that a few months after you left, you were completely broke.
|
It's not as much as you think and it's very nice money, all at the same time :)
|
i've seen that dude make similar arrogant comments before - i highly doubt VIVID is paying any employee 500K but who knows, maybe there are incentive bonuses for the people who run the web side of their biz. Their VIVID Girl contracts are worth much less than people think. Ask girls who've had them.

At a personal income level, that's a good solid income. Depending on how you live of course. At a business level, it's still a good income just not great by any means. Now if one person produced that income, business or personal, then it changes back to some good income really quickly.
|
That's very good income. Even a multi-millionaire would agree.
|
Its a good income.I have worked with many big corps and the bigger the brand ususally means lower income/salary throughout all levels.
Dont think because its a big name business that the people working will get top pay. I know photo guys, designers and others that have moved or refused to work for the larger corps as a lot of smaller set ups pay more. |
Thats a CEO salary in a lot of corporations

Big difference between $500k gross, and $500k net...
Donny's house must have been relatively inexpensive considering where he lived (prices where I live are at least double and probably triple), his vehicle was modest, and other than alimony, what bills did he have that most of us don't have? Part ownership in a small boat? And yet he lost all of that in just a few months... :1orglaugh I doubt he was the big baller he claims to have been given how broke he went so quickly. It appears that his crash and burn from the industry was mostly due to being jilted by his ex-girlfriend, whom he offered up for sex to a friend as long as he could watch. When that backfired on him, he spiraled out of control. Since nothing really panned out for him in mainstream, he was willing and eager to sell out the industry for some quick bucks, since he apparently had few alternative marketable skills. From what I have seen, Donny is nothing more than a charlatan, that gets off on attention and conning people. When he speaks publicly he glosses over his past, while trying to paint an exaggerated and untrue picture of the adult industry. If he were a real Christian that wanted to put his past behind him, he should be helping inner-city poor kids, or AIDS victims in Africa, instead of bragging about pulling in thousands for his anti-porn gigs, while continuing to hang out with old adult biz buds at strip clubs: http://ampcontent.com/pics/DonnyStripClub.jpg Donny's day will come, when the media finally exposes him as the fraud that he is... :thumbsup ADG |

obviously no one would 'scoff' at $500K a year but the richest of the rich in the US/world are making a couple of billion per year so i imagine they wouldn't even notice that missing from their checking account. granted this is a very small pool of people but they are out there. my cousins started a publically traded company and i've seen their net worth swing by $100 million in a day when their stock moves more than $5 in pricing. they wouldn't sneeze at $500K but it would make no meaninful impact on their net worth either.
|
That is surely a lot of money.

Its all relative. The richer look at with less awe than the poor. Over all $500k a year is a very large yearly income. Its really all a family or individual needs to live very, very well. Especially if its sustanable, year after year that is GREAT money in anyones eyes.

It is enough money so that as long as you do not live lavishly you can actually put some decent money away and "get ahead". But I hardly consider someone who grosses 500k to be "rich" on that alone. Now if they take the money they save and invest it wisely for a number of years they can become a multimillionaire.
7 years ago Lary Elison said to qualify as "rich" is to be worth at least $10 million dollars liquid. :2 cents: Of course I am basing this on someone who lives in Los Angeles or a similar high priced area of the world. 500k in many areas of the world would be considered "rich". :2 cents: |
$500k a year in salary or sales?

You can look at it this way - US president's salary is $400 000 a year (plus bonuses). $500k a year is a very nice coin.

wealth is like beauty, in the eye of the beholder and is all relative. but yeah $500k is a lot of money.
this reminded me of a story about kerry packer, at the time australias richest man: (copy and pasted) Packer got into an altercation with a loud-mouthed Texan at a blackjack table in Vegas. The story goes that the brash cowboy yelled at Packer "Don't you know who I am boy? I'm worth $60 million pardner!" The big Australian simply turned and replied "$60 Million? Toss you for it?" Packer also reportedly took his losses on the chin and was also generous when sharing his good fortune. He once casually asked a waitress how big her mortgage was and then without another word left her a tip for the exact amount she owed. |
I'd say $500k per year is more than ~99% of GFY'ers make
|
For work, it's great pay.
For ownership, it's meh. Just enough to qualify you for private banking, nothing more. |
