has anybody stopped check signups without any adverse effects?
some idiot signs up for my site today with an obviously fake email address and with the name "Florida Evans" (from the tv show, Good Times). I really doubt that somebody with that name is real. I assume that it is probably a check signup. I go to ccbill and sure enough, it's a check!
I'm not getting that many check rebills anyway. My credit card chargebacks are way below 1% but my check chargebacks are at like 12% Has anybody here banned checks without any adverse effects? |
Its not check chargebacks in most cases its a bad check to begin with
I did take down check signups and I put it back up, many don't have credit cards or their cards are maxed out But trust me I get the ccbill emails for attempts and I sure see those cock suckers trying a few times before their fake check goes thru |
I took checks for my first six months or so. I actually checked the overall rate the other day, and 16% of the signups got returned. That is just insane. I got rid of checks long ago, and didn't lose any business from it.
Plus, I am generally opposed to check signups-- there is zero security. Anyone you have ever written a check to has all the info they need to sign up for every website on the net with your money. |

LOL. Yeah I get a few of those 'celebrity' names too signing up for my site. You know they're fake right away. And using fake email addresses like [email protected]. Interesting facts about getting rid of checks alltogether...I might consider that.....

Yes....
we too have closed checks signups.... since we have moved to a russian processor.... Any service that is provider exclusively by AMERICAN BILLING SCAMMERS is a BIG FRAUD :BangBang: |
we too quit taking checks altogether w/ ccBill near the beginning of this year... we were seeing a near 50% return ration on checks by that point, it just wasn't worth it. heh. i'm almost positive i remember seeing the same 'Florida Evans' show up as well on one of our bogus transactions, wth..?
giving up on the checks didn't affect our sales at all, most people pay via credit cards regardless... at one point someone at ccBill told us that some of the returned checks we were seeing were never valid to begin w/, someone had determined a way to trick their script into accepting the data, even though it wasn't valid to begin w/... as i said before, not worth it... these people have debit cards, i trust them more than their checks.. |
