It's ok if you're selling kubrick DVDs.

Porn, no.

WiredGuy 02-28-2008 10:55 PM

Pretty much every sponsor I know doesn't want this type of traffic. Some even go out of their way to filter for referrers with this keyword to block it.

A lot of sponsors specifically outline in their ToS that you cannot promote them using "lolita" traffic

LiveDose 02-28-2008 11:01 PM

Sedo booted a domain we had with the name 'lolita' in it. Seems to be touchy.

Jai 02-28-2008 11:01 PM

It's a title of a book about a man obsessed with a 12 year old girl. Since then the word has become used to describe underage girls in a sexual nature.

Spunky 02-28-2008 11:07 PM

Avoid it pretty much

Visa banned the word around 2002 or so thats why sponsors dont want the traffic can get them in trouble.

Phil 02-29-2008 12:57 AM

make sure you have real address in your whois for that domain. I say go for it.

If you had to ask...

I would not touch it myself

MattO 02-29-2008 05:49 AM

There are some pornstars who use the name, example: Lolita Dita, so if you push pornstar sites, and specific pornstars you might run into the word.

And that's the only context in which this word maybe ok, it's asociated with pedo stuff way too much to push it SEO wise.

Jai, since you asked where the word comes from: There is a novel called "Lolita" from Vladimir Nabokov, famous russian author. It's about an old man becoming sexually obsessed with a twelve-year-old girl.

It's no use

He starts to shake and cough
Just like the
old man in
that book by Nabokov

(worst lyric ever)

They will refuse to process for a paysite which uses that (or any other banned) term.

HouseHead 02-29-2008 06:36 PM
