Namecheap broke?

Everytime I search for a domain, the dot com comes up with

XXXX.com ERROR This TLD is not supported

Any of you getting this as well?

PantieZ 02-28-2008 10:51 AM

working fine here

quantum-x 02-28-2008 10:52 AM

I had HUGE fucking issues with their DNS last week.
DNS changes were not sticking. Sent in a ticket, and got an email back asking for my password to my account - what the fuck.

Emailed support again, and over the period of 1 week, they kept fucking shit up, over, and over.

I was shocked: Richard has always run a tight ship w/ namecheap.

u-Bob 02-28-2008 11:35 AM

they've been having problems for a couple of weeks now :(

2012 02-28-2008 11:39 AM

a few times last week when I went to buy a domain name. I would get an error.... I couldn't buy anything or update DNS on existing.... so maybe they are working on it

SmokeyTheBear 02-28-2008 11:54 AM

totally offtopic but re: namecheap and things that piss you off

i bought a domain and hosting with them a few days ago.

First problem.. i signup get the hosting ( it has a message that hosting accounts can take up to 6 hours to setup because of fraud checks. ok a pissoff but no big deal )

6 hours later no email no setup , perhaps they dont understand what UP TO 6 hours means, ok again no big deal, so about 14 hours later they finally get it setup, but the domain isnt working. so i email support , a few hours later i get an email back saying i need to change the dns because its setup to namecheaps default dns.. not a big deal but cmon now , if you order a hosting package and new domain with it the nameservers should never have been pointed to namecheap , if you order hosting they should have it setup for you , and they shouldnt bullshit about when its going to happen.

all it means is i wasted my time and their support teams time by answering emails that never needed to happen.

Currently all URL Forwarding seems to be broken. Looks like I'm not the only one with issues. I usually don't have any problems with them.

Just Mike 02-28-2008 12:59 PM

im having issues with them too

Hello Guys,

There were some connectivity issues earlier but everything should be working fine now. If any of you are still having issues let me know via PM and I will personally look into each and every one.

We are currently upgrading our support so expect it to be top notch in the coming weeks. We've also recently added live 24/7 chat support and are adding more many techs. In fact I am working on the training myself so I can assure you it will get even better than ever.

Thanks for your patience and as always, I am always here to help you any time.

Best,

RichardK NameCheap.com

Hello Smokey,

The next time you need support you can get it live here https://support.namecheap.com/livesupport.php at any time. We are training our support team to handle most issues in real time so give us a bit of time and they will get there. Your issue definitely could have been handled via our live chat.

We've been growing by leaps and bounds so we are rapidly training you staff to catch up. Support is and has always been priority number one with our company and will ALWAYS continue to do be so.

Over the couple years I have been using them, I have seen no problems what so ever.

This wasn't a huge problem but I wanted to reg some domains there instead of GD but I went through GD anyway. :(

Hey Richard - Any clue on what's up with support at the moment?

Like I say, when I'm logged into a support system, lodge a ticket, and then get a reply from another domain, asking for my password - that's just straight up dodgy.

Seems the current techs have basic problems reading emails: It's like they take their own interpretation and just make up the rest.

I hope as you say things are on the up and up, because I was truly quite surprised to have received poor support - normally it's incredible.

PornMogul 02-28-2008 08:32 PM

This is why the Porn Mogul does not use namecheap......

denny007 02-28-2008 08:40 PM

Richard we talked briefly at Domainfest - when will be the platform for accredited registrars ready ?

Hello Quantum,

Quite honestly the the last few weeks have been hectic around here. The head of our support team(who was also my brother) passed away a few weeks ago. It hit us and myself pretty hard so we've all been dealing with that loss both personally and support wise. That aside, I have been busy training new techs and I am currently in our european office doing that. We will catch up here and support will be better than ever. I can personally guarantee that. We are bringing on and hiring new support techs as quickly as we can find them and bring them up to speed. This is my top priority at the moment and I will make sure everyone here is attended to properly if they email me with any issues.

Once again, you have my 100% personal guarantee that we will never stray from our policy of providing the best support possible.

Thank you for the explanation, I'm sorry to hear for your loss.
