Best movies based on a video game?
 

So here I am watching Hitman, wondering wether I'll like it or be dissapointed. From all accounts I feel I may be dissapointed but I will keep an open mind.

This has led me to wondering what are the best video game movies?

Which of the movies based on video games has succeeded the most? One's that the gamers have loved because it's stayed true to the original storyline and action and where the general movie going audience has loved it as well because it was just a great movie...

I guess anything made by Ewe Bolle gets an automatic disqualification, although the trailer for Far Cry looks a little promising.

Can't think of any that were good. Closest would have to be the original Resident Evil, which I kinda liked.

Silent Hill was actually pretty twisted so I sorta enjoyed that as well.

They all go downhill from there.

Doom - but it was shit.

Mortal Kombat wasn't too bad.

Yes, I must admit I liked that alot.

Hitman turned out to be ok, Timothy Olyphant was ok but a bit miscast. Every time he spoke I couldn't get Seth Bullock out of my head :Oh crap

And here I thought I was the only one....

Yeah Tomb Raider was cool, also Mario, I don't know if that's the movie or the series I just saw back then.

Haha oh god, that movie was so horrible. I mean holy christ I can't believe they actually released it in that state.

I'm going to say Silent Hill, since the games can be pretty goddamed creepy if you play in the dark and you're alone (story of my life). The movie definitely had its "OH GOD OH GOD NO SHE DIDNT... OH SHIT SHE DID" moments :)

I would agree with the Silent hill, although the main character was just about as surreal as in the game, it was a well taken movie.

I also kind of liked the Resident Evil and always wished that there was the Duke Nukem filmed.

Yet with Arnold getting old and into politics the only actor capable of taking this character to the silver screen that comes to my mind is Dolph Lundgren.

Fallout would be another great but very expensive movie - the game and its story is a piece of art.

I haven't seen Silent Hill yet. So i would have to say Resident Evil.

I also thought the 1st Mortal Kombat movie was ok. Had some pretty hot chicks in it anyway !! :thumbsup

No one's mentioned Alien vs Predator yet... what's up with that? It's one of the few multiplayer games I've ever played, and was a pretty good movie all things considered.

I've always wanted to see a Max Payne movie.

Resident Evil is the best IMO. Hitman was ok, i enjoyed it , just expected more..

Damn, you're right. A Fallout movie could be awesome, if they kept the atmosphere, humor, sex and violence intact.

They should make a zelda movie staring orlando bloom I think it would be great =)

The game or the movie? I thought both were okay. I've actually heard several people say in the past that they really liked the movie.

Yeah, it's more like the game was based on the movies, Alien and Predator.

But the movie "Alien vs Predator" was a game before it became a movie, so in that sense we're both right.

It was two movies that became a game and then another movie.

Actually, it was a comic book before it was a game. Yep, I know how much of a geek I am for knowing that :disgust

Redident evil + tomd raider (now someone needs to get those two tegether for some serious action) :)
I liked the nurses in Silent Hill, inspired me to shoot some horror stuff soon...

Yeah, that's right. I've been pretty much out of the loop on comic books since probably the early 80's
(after The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers) :D
