The best healthy eating franchise in America is?

We have lots of Subways over here in the UK... Quiznos are just starting to get a foot hold...

Are there any HEALTHY other eating places in the USA that are massive and use the franchise model?

bausch 02-28-2008 05:37 AM

subway is great, i like it more than quizno

Chick-fil-a is healthy

Quiznos isn't healthy at all. For the longest time they wouldn't even publish their nutritional data. There was a reason for that.

Actually their subs and salads are some of the worst offenders. Tuna sub = 175 grams of fat? That makes a whopper look good.

Thanks for the suggestion bausch, never heard of a chick a fil a....

Chick a fila franchise requires owners to be free of other business commitments so not a good one for me - I ain't selling up to chop cabbage. Kinda want something that can run itself and something where there isn't one on every corner.

Never been in. Never eaten there so I don't really know... Thanks for the info though. Too much cheese on their shit by the looks of it, can't stand cheese.

I don't know about "massive" but check out Firehouse Subs, El Pollo Loco, Baja Fresh and Smoothie King.

Darn, I don't even eat fast food much at all these days but I would eat at a Chick A Fila every now and then just because I haven't had one in years.

It isn't healthy at all BUT I think it is now time for Taco Bell to properly launch itself in the UK. I heard that they used to be here in London the early 90's but even when I moved here in 1996 most people didn't have a clue about TexMex food. Now it is everywhere in the supermarkets.

Domain Diva 02-28-2008 09:18 AM

you will never find a HEALTHY eating option in any fast food outlet,it might look good but its all about $$$$$$ and making as much as you can even the salads are made to produce the maximum $. :thumbsup

Just buy into whatever is popular :)forget the healthy part !

Quiznos had the worlds worst ad campaign, a rat with bad teeth as their logo. WTF ... scared kids, grossed out adults. I've never gone to one because of the ads.

Check out how gross it is ......

The answer your looking for is Tropical Smoothie. It has great real fruit smoothies, great sandwhiches, and salads. I'm pretty sure there healthy too. I'm not sure what there franchise info is, but it seems like a VERY easy place to run.

Just my :2 cents: hope it helps!

Yeah, I like El Pollo Loco... the chicken is cooked on an open grill and is delicious. And if you stick to the Mexican sides like black beans, rice, etc., it ain't bad for you. You can even choose flour or corn tortillas. I don't know if they're anywhere outside of LA/SoCal though.

definitely

and the key to healthy salads is to not soak them in dressing and top them with excessive cheese, etc.

Sarah_Jayne 02-28-2008 10:55 AM

Any 'healthy' stuff in the UK should use the organic gimmick ...people bend over themselves to pay extra for the dirt.

Not sure how you can beat fresh vegetables and good meats on fresh baked bread. Could install treadmills with tray tables instead of normal tables and chairs maybe, thats about it.

baddog 02-28-2008 11:23 AM

Soup Plantation probably

Twig 02-28-2008 11:25 AM

Firehouse Subs, Tropical Smoothie, Smoothie King.
LOVE THEM.

Yeah... they're all over, I think.

Remember them in FL 11 years ago before moving out here.

sniperwolf 02-28-2008 12:53 PM

Not an American here but El Pollo Loco here in our place do serve some healthy foods. :thumbsup

TiltMaster 02-28-2008 12:57 PM

Jimmy Johns Subs ... Newer sub franchise ... but omg there subs are the greatest in the world... can't compare any sub place to them .. if you live in us and know of a jimmy johns try them instead of subway

DirtyProfits 02-28-2008 01:55 PM

fast food & healthy is contradictio in adjecto (oxymoron)

aico 02-28-2008 02:11 PM

Quiznos is about as healthy as a hammer to the cranium.
Subway is ok, the meat isn't really that fresh, you'll do better to get a sandwich made for you at your local supermarket deli where they cut the meat daily (usually twice daily).

Already mentioned: El Pollo Loco, Baja Fresh.

Taco Time is pretty healthy compared to other Mexican fast food, just don't eat the MexiFries.

quality food doesn't really go hand in hand with high profit margins, maybe.

I own 2 sub shops and I can tell you that the way Subway presents its information it can be a little misleading. The sandwiches are healthy thats true but using the other breads, adding cheese, adding mayo, honey mustard, blue cheese dressing and other condiments drastically changes the caloric intake.

Pita Pitt is pretty good.

A lot of drunken idiots at the pita pitt around 3am. If you put it next to a bar/club/college/university I'm sure you'll make good monies.

Chipotle has quality ingredients and uses naturally raised meat. All orders are customizable for dietary preferences and the burritos are fucking huge! Chipotle seems to be popping up in every major city:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

Very true, when I eat at Subway I get their veggie, lowest cal bread ... then I add a can of Albacore tuna maybe some honey. Great tasting and makes up for the other shit I eat.

Most salad dressings are like adding a Big-Mac to your lunch.

xroach 02-28-2008 06:09 PM

my vote is for baja fresh
