What motivates you in life?

Please don't say money, because that's not true no matter how you say it.

For me, it's the idea that at some point in your life you must be measured by your accomplishments and choices in life. How far youve come from where you started, and where you end up. And I would like to look back on my life and be able to say "you know what, I came from nothing, broke single mom and was able to pay off houses and cars from web sites and never work hard like those around me continue to." I recently took over a year off, I retired from wage slavery at 25 - not many people my age could do or say the same.

Violetta 02-27-2008 09:11 AM

I love every day... I love my gf, my family, I love to play soccer and guitar. But money motivates me to work. I wanna retire, if not rich, at least not average...

L-Pink 02-27-2008 09:12 AM

Being able to do what I want when I want, within reason of course.

Fletch XXX 02-27-2008 09:41 AM

i gotta admit, when i as renting an apartment it did not feel the same as making house payments every month that are made with porn.

paying off a house after having paid off cars with porn is a whole new feeling.

Very motivating.

Rochard 02-27-2008 09:48 AM

I'm motivated by m-o-n-e-y. Plain and simple.

I can care less what I leave behind or what people think of me.

LauraLee 02-27-2008 09:53 AM

Congrats Fletch, you have every reason to be proud and pride filled.

Tons of stuff motivates me, but right now it's my Grandma. She is currently visiting for the next 6 weeks. She is 93 years old and amazing everyone. I hadn't seen her in 8 months (she lives in a diff country), and here this time she shows up sans glasses. She recently had cataract surgery and after 65 years of wearing spectacles she no longer needs them.
Most people grow into glasses, she grew out of em. She proves anything is possible and that right there is my motivation.

The money itself or the feeling of owning it? Maybe what you buy for it?

Can't believe that money only can be enough to work for. Something has to be behind it.

In anything we do, competition is motivating. Of course is better if a person is the competitor instead of being broke.

Though I understand why you say money only.

Ditto.

It is 100% true that money IS my only motivation. I'm single, no kids, nothing to work for except money. Someday I may be measured by my accomplishments but when that happens I will be lying in a coffin not caring what everyone in the room thinks of how I lived my life. I work so I can afford my lifestyle. Plain and simple.

In addition to some other things it's a fun game to play and a numerical record of your success. Increase your bank account, you win

Motivation in your self is not measured by money I guess.. It's the things you want to do. Accomplishment, thats me :)

I recently listened to the audiobook Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World by Bill Clinton and it has changed the way I wil live the rest of my life.

I am in the process of establishing a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

I will work my online business to pay my bills and the rest of my time will be devoted to the organization.

BlackCrayon 02-27-2008 11:47 AM

Freedom and happiness. Accomplishments...maybe one day but making porn sites ins't much of an accomplishment to me. If I ever sell a domain for a million bucks, I'll consider that an accomplishment but my main goal is just to be able to live comfortably, have the things i need and to a lesser extent, want, while working on my own terms.

CurrentlySober 02-27-2008 11:52 AM

Im gonna give an honest answer here,
Now I know this is GFY and many people post stupid things, just for effect etc... But this is a completely genuine answer...

My biggest motivation in life, is the knowledge that if I want to kill myself, and end it all, I could do it in an instant... That alone motivates me to enjoy life and carry on...

Nismo 02-27-2008 12:32 PM

Simply put - Money in the bank motivates me. Money alleviates debt and pays my bills. It also helps give me what I need for investments and real estate purchases. Not to mention, it just makes life much easier having money than living paycheck to paycheck.

Never HAVING to rely on anyone for things. I don't like being in someone's debt. I slept on a few couches getting on my feet and I don't want to need that again. It feels nice to pay my own bills.

lbc213 02-27-2008 12:58 PM

I am all for the easy life, I just want to have a enjoyable and relaxed life. I don't care to much about be rich, I would much rather just be comfortable and not have to worry about stuff. Get a family going, a few kiddies and a dog will do me.

The mountains: telemark (backcountry touring), ski-mountaineering, climbing, scrambling, hiking and various other activities that include me starting at the bottom and making my way to the top.

The thing truly ruins my motivation is money!

That at some point, within *one* decade tops, I'll know I'll never ever have to do *anything* for money again... I hate the whoring we *all* have to do :2 cents:
Yet then having enough money to last me my lifetime, and allow me the luxuries of doing what I feel like, when I feel like it, and help family and friends when they may need it.

That sums it up 100%.

Well it is about money...or rather security.

I feel what I think of myself or my accomplishments is irrelevant. It would be nice to feel good or proud of what I have done, but I don't. All I feel is that I want more money.

Minte 02-27-2008 08:15 PM

Working because I enjoy it. Not because I have to.
