Trial or no Trial?????
 

Hi there, what do you girls and guys think about trials? I currently have a trial at 9.83 for 5 days and it seems that its working very well for me. I cant figure out if my site is just really taking off again and thats why my volume is alot higher or if its because i added the trial. I would love some input on this.

I have a referal program, it seems that some people dont like a trial. can you explain why? I have people that are making serious cash from it, so what is the problem?

thats why i posted, i would love to hear the facts. and if that is a fact about long term i will take it off. it just seems to be working well. but again, my traffic has gone up alot lately as well. so its hard to say what really is going on.

wow, 19.95 for 3 days. you have some balls =)~ i like your pricing structure. it just kills me when i see people selling a product for 9.95 a month. but then again, you usually get what you pay for. i bet your site is pretty good at that price.

Try to wack the surfer on the regular monthly price. If they exit out of there. Hit them with a trial.
I do that on a few of my sites and it works very well.
My regular sales are very high compared to my trial and my affiliates love it !

gugmor, i have the same thing. and your right, it works great! although, it will be comon practice pretty soon. then i will prob just go back to a normal monthly rate.

also, what do you think a good monthly recurring membership should run? my site is interactive. i talk with my members on my live streaming cam that is on 24 hrs a day with chat and sound. i have over 100 full length personal movies, over 2k personal pics, and a ton more. its packed with tons of content. so what should i charge? im charging 24.95 for a moth recurring right now. can i get away with more? and would i do better you think?

I like trials, when I use sponsors with both options, the ones where they go to full month, they seem to like to try to refund/chargeback. When I activate the trial, they don't chargeback. :) So, if the surfer feels they didn't get everything they wanted, they are like well, it was only $$ amount of dollars, not the full monthly price. I feel $24.95 is the perfect monthly price, but no, I don't run a paysite, just an affiliate of lots of programs

Care to explain? No Trials are great for the affiliate but what about the user? What's the pro and con?

My feeling is that no trial reduces sales but does not really increase 1) retention/rebill 2) may have an adverse effect re asking for a refund. What are your thoughts?

i really like the site wouncie. how many people go for the $20 trial? its a good idea.

i can only speak for myself here about chargebacks and refunds. i have had only 14 refunds for this yr. i do some serious volume out my site, if you have a great product the customer isnt going to ask for there money back. if you give them something that is a rip, then it should be expected.

i cant believe many people hit on a 3 day trial for 20.00. if your getting that alot, more power to you. i think something like 20.00 fpr 10 days, 30 for a month. and 40.00 for 3 months might work. make them go right into the 40.00 membership =)~~~~~

why not take your average retention rate, lets say three months @ 29.95 or 89.85 total and offer a full year for only 129.00!!! a Savings of 230.40 off the regular price!!! people love that shit.

Your trials seem to work for you... they might not do as good for oxcash or something... but amateur sites need higher trials - lower monthly rate structure!

why does an amateur site have to have a lower monthly rate vs other sites? please explain, im very curious. my site prob has more content than almost any othe site out there, so why should my pricing structure be lower than some others?

I read on another thread that you have a live streaming cam in your bedroom at 15 frames a sec. Cut down the frame rate to save a bit on bandwidth. Keep if affordable for the member because you will make more in the long run with recurring !

Think of it this way.

your a surfer you come across a site that gives you a month trial for a $1.
Then you come across a site which offers you a 5 day trial for 9.95 or what ever.

What would you choose?

honestly, if i were a guy i would pick the site that i think is the best value. it could be the one for 1.00 or the 9.95. im sure a guy like you porn king could buy a pair of shoes for 10.00 or you could buy a pair of shoes for 80.00, which pair are you going to choose porn king? shoes are shoes right? =)~

Guys, why guess what anyone would or wouldn't choose. This is the Internet and as such it is the most powerful tool for testing in almost real time. It's not like you have to wait 6 months to tally results from a TV or print campaign. If you have 5 or 6 different configurations for trial prices, monthly, etc.. try all of them a week at a time then go back and compare results. DO projections on those results over 12 months or so and you have your answer.

Our sites and most sponsors have like 50 times the amount of content in them then what you have and they have a selection of many girls to chat with one on one.

It doesn't matter they will all cancel because they just want a quik fix till they get there bill.

Hope I'm not butting in on the discussion over content/why guys join. But I've done over 2500 sites in 7 years now and I can say with a fair amount of confidence the following:

Guys almost always join because a particular model or series of shots got him excited enough to join.

Guys almost always stay because of frequently updated content and good variety.

There are of course always exceptions, but this is vastly the rule.

PK, were the Amateur sites being operated by the actual girls though? One thing I found is that no matter how hard many of my clients tried, they couldn't turn good profit with AM sites but a girl would do a site of her own with all the same bells and whistles and it would do just fine. There's something to be said with a site that gets a true heart and soul put into it.

Desirae - post some numbers on those $10, 5 day trials. If you up your trials.. please come back and post how that goes. As an advertiser, I like trials better. Havent had much luck with monthly signups like I have with trials. However, I notice about 70% of my trials cancel.

BrownBear - I agree trials may not work for some types of traffic but for others (TGP) it does. You have some heavy stats to back
up your comment? or are you guessing? Do you run a paysite or just promote ARS sites?

Dugmore - I totally agree. Not offering a trial and popping up the trial offer will work great (for some traffic -- TGP'ers fucking hate popups though).

Pornkings - I agree the surfer would rather signup for a site with one month access for 1$ rather than 5 days for 10$ but it really depends on how bad they want access. This just shows that the usual adult paysites should offer such discounts and the exclusive sites dont really have to.

I have come to the conclusion that the monthly price doesnt really make a difference as long as its in the range of 20-30/month... and trials are always a plus. As for not fixing things that arent broke... How will that ever make things better though? You will never progress until you experiment.

I only pop an exit if they exit the join page.
