I was kinda thinking the same thing. If the shareholders start complaining about visa being used for online porn transactions what happen?

GirlsOnYou 02-26-2008 12:17 PM

what kind of an idiot shareholder would complain? The adult biz makes a lot of money for Visa, there's no way that they'd stop allowing adult payments unless there would become legal problems.

VISA US region, porn is not that big of a money maker. Almost every department store, fast food, hell almost every industry is larger than the US porn industry.

We think $50m or $100m dollars is a monster company, but really in the business scale of things, it's tiny piss money. These companies exchange more money daily than the VISA US region processes monthly.

no way, bottom line is sales, and porn brings a shit load of revenue to Visa, I don;t see any board members shutting down visa for porn and hurting their bottom line

ADL Colin 02-26-2008 12:32 PM

Visa use to accept payments for bestiality sites. What happened? Things CAN change. Not saying they will.

ADL Colin 02-26-2008 12:33 PM

We're looking at probably less than 1/2 of 1% of visa sales. Maybe even half of that.

tony286 02-26-2008 01:14 PM

mc went public and they havent dropped adult.

Mastercard went public less than two years ago. American Express accepted adult payments online for about 8 years before getting rid of us. Of the big three the only one that dropped online porn transactions was the public one.

According to American Express though their decision had nothing to do with the porn content itself. For whatever that is worth. Again, it doesn't seem likely that Mastercard and Visa going public would hurt us but it could.

that is a myth. porn is a liability for cc companies and they have even made a point to show up at conventions to drive that point home.... to an audience that basically ignored them until American Express announced they weren't going to process porn anymore right after that.

its pretty comical that so many want to think that Visa or Mastercard just can't possibly stop.

Or a flip side could happen. Amex starts accepting adult transactions. They cant take the same bullshit about porn now that all 4 major cards are public companies.

DigitalDruid 02-26-2008 10:31 PM

how would shareholders restrict you from using your visa for porn? Would it still work at the strippers? Or even the rub N tugs? Thats just silly talk
