HELP! I'm in my 40's and getting FAT!

Help! I sit in front of my computer all day and am too lazy to excersize, and just realized I'm getting a FAT GUT. I like beer and lots of sugar in my coffee, and there's nothing I like better than a Big Mac, Fries and a Shake when I get depressed about how fat I'm getting. (MMMm... Big Macs). Any advice?

Ps: Any hot ladies out there looking for a good time, come on over! I .. I will.. um... I'm hungry. Bring Pizza.

gornyhuy 02-25-2008 07:22 PM

1)Get off your fat ass daily.
2)Eat better.

Oh, And PS: "Hey, Ladies.... *wink*!"

Try drinking only diet beers from now on.

Make sure to eat no more than 1 big mac, fries, and a shake per day.

Follow that diet and you should be fine.

Juicy D. Links has a tried and true method for his physical and mental health. You should ask him. He is in pristine condition all the way around!

Spunky 02-25-2008 07:27 PM

Start out by going for a walk daily

Jim_Gunn 02-25-2008 08:57 PM

You're a successful guy. If you really want to make a change hire a cook to make healthy pre-cooked meals for you every week and get a personal trainer at the gym who know what he is talking about and change your habits. One hour of intense effort in the gym every other day and four or five healthy meals per day- and no more sugar or soda- will get you on the right track.

aPornReview 02-25-2008 09:04 PM

Eat and drink whatever the hell ya want just get to the gym and work it off. Works for me

walk around your backyard until your legs feel better, then go for a walk down the street and back and slowly lenghten the distance.

if you lose one pound a week, that's 52 pounds a year. think long term.

RevengeBucks_Monica 02-25-2008 09:23 PM

I started going to the gym three times per week, doing cardio and lifting weight. I also do a one hour yoga class once per week.

The hard part for me is watching what I eat. Working out makes me hungrier than ever, and it's hard to stick to good food. Plus, when I try to cut back on sugars, I just think about them ALL the time! It's coming slowly though.

Change is difficult. It takes a long time to make something new into a habit.

Fat Panda 02-25-2008 10:03 PM

just get off your fat ass

Monica, after a while you won't even crave sugar anymore. But you can still have something for your sweet tooth that doesn't have any sugar or at least hardly any sugar. I make some home made instant pudding made with fat free milk and protein powder that satisfies my sweet tooth and is really good for you.

Sugar is a drug. Between one and two weeks after you've eliminated sugar from your diet, you'll have a sugar rush. That's when you realize how much of a drug sugar is for your body. If you get past that sugar rush, you won't have the urge for sugar. However, don't eliminate sugar completely, consume it in moderation and you'll be healthy.

G.A.F 02-26-2008 02:00 AM

Hey! if you continue like this, you'll have a heart attack at any moment. You should treat yourself better. Remember it's the only body you have. See a dietician. It's amazing all the healthy food you can eat without starving.
Forget all the junk food and eat properly, at least WALK 2kms a day.
Then, why don't you take a look at this and know why you are fat and what is causing it: http://tinyurl.com/29qt54 .
If this doesn't work, why don't you pay a dollar to a friend every time you buy a BigMac? Maybe if you give away the money like that, you'll want it to stop (for your financial sake at least).
Remember that if you DON'T WANT TO DO IT, no pills or doctors will do it for you. They can only help, but the final decision is yours. :)

is it the twice daily enema diet ?:Oh crap

Evil E 02-26-2008 04:51 AM

Hey Mark, You just need to find something you like to do that will burn energy... find a new hobby...

Could be Rollerblade(lots of fun, especially in the old port), rock climbing, karate, swimming, yoga, dance classes .. whatever fits your boat... That way if you find something you really enjoy, you will stick with it. That's the simplest thing.

Now if you really are motivated, you could join a gym, get some privates and watch what you eat.

Pretty much anything works to lose weight, the key is to be regular and consistent.

Evil E 02-26-2008 05:09 AM

If you're pretty serious about it, check this out. It's a bit costly at 400$ for 3 months of unlimited classes, but it's as good as you can get especially if you want to get in shape and lose some weight.

BuggyG 02-26-2008 06:53 AM

instead of sending greg.. jen .. or kedra.. walk to mcd's. it's not even 10mins away from your office. but always feels good sending your subordinates (spelling??) to do stuff for you. so I can see the dilema

Fletch XXX 02-26-2008 06:54 AM

Antonio 02-26-2008 07:20 AM

get back to your 30s, that'd help

Paco, of Large Cash. 02-26-2008 08:49 AM

have you thought about cocaine?

It works great for those that are too lazy to exercise and too stubborn to stop eating shit from the roach coach.

L-Pink 02-26-2008 08:52 AM

Simple math, burn more than you ingest.

SilentKnight 02-26-2008 09:04 AM

Try the 'Coma Diet'.

Step in front of a city bus.

Lose weight while you sleep. :thumbsup

Violetta 02-26-2008 09:13 AM

mona 02-26-2008 09:18 AM

I was there about 6months ago, it was just like I woke up one day and was fat, so I've started jogging ever other day and seems to be helping!

BVF 02-26-2008 10:31 AM

I realized that sitting here all day was killing me a long time ago but I just now joined a gym and went today and took a 'spin' class where we work out on a stationary bike with music...Then I did some weight training after that....

I'm back home now and I'm EXHAUSTED! I'm going to sleep very well tonight.....

Lift weights first, and do cardio afterwards, never the other way around. And make sure that you eat properly both before and after your workouts so that you burn gain muscle and burn fat, or at least maintain one and gain or lose some of the other.

Jimmy Rock 02-26-2008 12:20 PM

stop eating hotdogs

DigitalDruid 02-26-2008 12:25 PM

Either get off your ass, look into surgical options, or prepare to leave the world quite a few years prematurely.

amateurcanada 02-26-2008 03:28 PM

Haha, well at phoenix you will see the giant I am. 1st of all who cares, you live once so dont stop doing things you like BUT be proactive. I am dieting myself and just bought an elliptical, they are pretty good - make sure you get one that can accomodate your weight or you will burn it out. I do that 30 minutes a day and eat a diet called nutrisystem. They send ya food in the mail and its portion controlled - 320 a month and maybe 200 more to add your own veggies etc. If your lazy, eat better and dont snack. and dont drink alcohol :P

lol, ive been doing it the other way around - how come you suggest this? I do 30 mins on m eliptical and hit the bowflex for a 20 minute session and wind down with 5mins of rowing.

D Ghost 02-26-2008 03:29 PM

damn that sucks, you can only help yourself though

Adam_M 02-26-2008 04:12 PM

I say the best thing to do is just keep eating and drinking (fuck it you have to die from something)

And make them have to remove you through the room after your dead :thumbsup

There is a gigantic body of expertise at this stage of the game, much of which can be read on sites like Bodybuilding.com, and the common wisdom is that weightlifting needs to be done first while you are fueled up from say breakfast or dinner and then muscles fed immediately afterwards for repair. Cardio is best done either separately (different day for example) or later in the day or, if any time close to weightlifting, do it afterwards not before.

Lifting weights is actually more important for staying in shape and should be the primary focus, of your exercise routine along with a very good diet. And not half-assedly done either. Bowflex is certainly better than nothing but it is somewhat limited of course. Building muscle will raise your metabolism and help you burn calories even while staying at sitting at your computer. Do the cardio afterwards or on a different day to burn off some fat too and make your heart stronger. And get your diet correct as well so that you actually make a noticeable change in your body rather than get frustrated from the inability to change and figure that you are wasting your time with exercising at all. You always want to do things the smartest way to get the most bang for your buck, exercise shouldn't be any different.

shekinah 02-26-2008 05:52 PM

Start eating veggies man...avoid eating fatty foods starting now!

helic0pter 02-26-2008 05:53 PM

I would honestly recommend Hypnotherapy. Hypnosis can be a very powerful weight loss mechanism and turn your craving for fast food and sugar into a craving for healthy food.

It's pretty amazing and really works. As long as you have the spare funds it's definitely worth a try.
