The Oscars (Academy Awards)

I realized last night that I've not watched any of the 5 movies nominated for best picture this year.

I have Michael Clayton sitting here on DVD, but then I buy tons of DVDs and never watch them (the twenty-somethings that are in and out of here do).

Which of the 5 have you seen and of those what's your pick for best picture?

Juno was a great movie.

Michael Clayton - Watch it Love it -- The movie is not meant for your average viewer.

PersianKitty 02-24-2008 02:06 PM

Gee... no one else wants to admit to watching movies?

Fap 02-24-2008 02:06 PM

Juno sucked just as much as Garden State!

Why does everyone like that piece of shit

I haven't seen Juno... but I thought Garden State was pretty good.

In fact, I haven't seen a lot of nominees this year... haven't had a whole lot of time for movies - in fact, I'm probably paying Netflix a bit more than my per-rental cost would be down the street. :-/

I'm sure I'll catch up with the good ones sooner or later.

I haven't seen any of those movies.

Edit: But I still voted :evil-laug

I don't think I've seen any movies that came out within the past nine months, I'm having an off movie year, I've been pretty busy and if I'm going to watch a DVD I typically like watching the TV DVDs better.

Monique Niccole 02-24-2008 02:30 PM

I've only seen two -- Michael Clayton and No Country for Old Men. Michael Clayton was very good, but IMO not "Best Picture" good.

Sly 02-24-2008 02:31 PM

I take that back.

I've seen Gone Baby Gone and American Gangster.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 02-24-2008 02:53 PM

Haven't seen any of them...generally I only go to watch epic/action flicks at the theater.

I mostly watch DVDs after the movie release (I like the BTS and Bonus features). Just watched Blood Diamond this week - good movie.

Juno was a good movie.. Not best picture good tho.. I think the girl in it has a good chance for the oscar tho along with the ex-stripper who wrote it (if she is up for one)...

Validus 02-24-2008 04:08 PM

I wasn't too thrilled about any of them. To be honest.

aico 02-24-2008 04:09 PM

Juno was terrible.

watched it part way tru, then my flight ended, just when it got interesting:disgust

CarlosTheGaucho 02-24-2008 04:11 PM

Well I don't really care about the new movies, I will see them all someday, but there is enough older movies I haven't seen yet.

For example I have been watching "The Giant" with James Dean, Rock Hudson and Liz Taylor last night - it definitely satisfied me although Rock was a very easily pre-definable Texan character.

Peaches 02-24-2008 04:21 PM

I've only seen Michael Clayton and while I think it was a GOOD movie, I didn't think it was Oscar class. I'll be watching American Gangster and Gone Baby Gone during the Oscars tonight :)
