What kind of watch should I buy?

I have some money left after an evening full of fun events from my birthday yesterday and I need a new watch. My old one the strap broke and ended up loosing it. I'm looking for something nice and in the $100-150 price range. Something that would look nice for when I go out on dates as I am looking for that special someone. Without a job though I can't afford anything more then the budget mentioned and my blog is only getting the occasional sale right now as its only a few weeks old.

Any suggestions or recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

Save your money.. $100 - $150 gets you only garbage..:2 cents:

no one on GFY will admit to having such a cheap watch.

Everyone here is a playa with a Rolex and a Porsche.

I have seen some decent stuff in that price range. Most watches I've liked are around $500 so you are right but I do need something. I was going to go buy a nice pair of sunglasses for the summer when I go running as I recently started working out a month ago but I think I'd use a watch more.

Lykos 02-24-2008 06:36 AM

No seriose watch for that money:( Maybe some swatch?

Doctor Dre 02-24-2008 06:40 AM

Okay so let me get this straight.

You are looking for a special someone, a real relationship with a girl. Not some girl you want to flash on, fuck and dump...

And what you want to do is too impress her with your watch... but in the end, you're broke and you don't have money to back it up ?

Dosen't sound like a great plan if you want to keep the girl arround.

Doctor Dre 02-24-2008 06:42 AM

P.S. Just get a good fake rolex if you want to impress girls, that's probably the only brand they will recognize anyways.

Don't listen to these guys :winkwink: You can get plenty of nice looking watches under $150... The Swatch automatics are a pretty good deal, I think they cost exactly $150 and come with a real automatic movement... The Swatch chronographs are around the same and look alright.

Also Fossil has a shitload of selection for $1-200 or so.

Try these sites

look for the watch section

Ya Fossil is good. I have a nice Kenneth Cole I like. Want a Movado but cant justify spending that much on a watch right now, maybe by next year.

Harry Red 02-24-2008 09:40 AM

I'd take some Casio multifunctional devices that aren't too costly. At the time I use some cheap Swatch for 4 years already and quite happy wuth them.
And I lost a nice 'No Limit' Sector watches somewhere in Balkan's forest while been flying paraglyder two years ago.
Feel so sorry for them...

I still have my collection of Swatch watches from when I was a kid.

Didn't know that they were making a decent watch these days. Brings back memories.

Lycanthrope 02-24-2008 10:37 AM

I refuse to spend more than 500 dollars on a watch. A) I'm not a player, B) an inexpensive watch is less likely to be stolen and will lead to much less angst if damaged.

You should be able to find a decent Bulova or Citizen in / near that price range.

Will it impress that certain someone to be? Doubtful, but if you need a watch to do that, you probably have some other things to work on.

Fap 02-24-2008 10:38 AM

Take that money and buy a knockoff in chinatown

He said it had to be around $100. If he wants to spend more they can put XP on it.

At $5k you're only really limited to the base Submariner... There's plenty of other brands though with good watches around there... TAG Heuer, Omega, Zenith, and Corum come to mind.

maybe invest that $100? If you don't have a job you'd be retarded to buy a watch over $10... You certainly don't have a real use for it. Also buy a $10 pair of sunglasses. Also your cell phone can tell you the time so FORGET the watch...

even the year I made $300k I wore 3 for $15 sunglasses everywhere I went....

dready 02-24-2008 11:47 AM

I don't think you'll find something 'nice' for $100. If you can afford $2-300, you can buy a Seiko. It will be comparable in quality to a Rolex for a fraction of the price. Seiko makes damn nice watches.

Nah, I was looking on ebay and you can get any model for that. Not going to spend 3k extra in a local place. I'll check out those other brands though

tony286 02-24-2008 11:52 AM

I like cheap stainless steel watches I spend no more than $120 on a watch because I beat the shit out of them and jewelry doesnt do it for me. Casio makes a very nice stainless atomic watch, I got one on sale for $70 bucks. Then I got a stainless fossil that people have stopped me and gave me compliments on. Think it was 90 dollars.

DBS.US 02-24-2008 11:52 AM

Don't be a money flasher, I doesn't really work.:2 cents:

Thanks for everyone that gave there suggestions. Perhaps I should save my cash rather then spend it right away.

The new Spring Drive Seikos are in the $4-6k range and look amazing. Very cool technology.

Ewww unpolarized lenses!?!?! :disgust :winkwink:

Sly 02-24-2008 04:00 PM

I never understood the whole deal about watches. Especially now that everyone has a cell phone on them at all times.

evildick 02-24-2008 04:05 PM

I don't see how these companies can justify charging so much for their products. Seems like an organized scam on the part of watch manufacturers to me.

Validus 02-24-2008 04:09 PM

I am not a big watch fan. I got a watch I wear when I go out. Considering how much I paid for it, it certainly isn’t a watch I would wear day-to-day.

I give watches a "meh"!!!

todhunter 02-24-2008 04:13 PM

For $100-150, try Skagen. Good looking and VERY affordable.

Be careful, though. My wife and I refer to Skagen as "The crack of watches." Once you have one, you want more.

Unless you're staring at the sun it really doesn't matter.... When I had my boat I had polarized lenses but guess what? they fell in the lake and were gone... water reflecting off of water is about the only time a polarized lens helps. driving towards the sun at sunset? doesn't help much...
