Alexa Stats

Let this be the Alexa stats thread. Post Alexa images for major TGPs especially, and then compare with Tube sites.

Frankly, Alexa is no longer relevant hasnt been for a long time, but old habits are hard to die I suppose.

Its not about relevancy, its about accuracy. I know alexa is not an accurate tool, but its still handy ... plus, when you compare two quite similar sites, its results are way better.

Compete.com is new, they need time to prove themselves.

Industry? No. Paysites? Yes.

you can say industry is changing itself heavily. Business models, ethics, everything is changing .. but industry wont die. :2 cents:

Tube sites arent the problem... you are.

The big players all have their hands in the tube sites, why dont you?

Compete.com results are far more accurate that Alexa. I don't think there's any doubt compete.com leads the way over Alexa big time at the moment. Alexa still works as a secondary tool and the combo of two can give pretty decent idea of traffic

May be you think so, but I think otherwise. Adult industry has been around since when there was no single paysite.

I didn't said alexa is more accurate. What I said is compete needs sometime to prove itself, and become primary tool.

Didn't mean to sound like I'm arguing with you, I'm just myself impressed with accuracy of their graphs. I run several websites that I have tracked through google analytics and my own tracking scripts, but accurate results compete.com offers for all of them are kind of frightening. Including top keyword phrases that send search engine traffic. Compete is so accurate it's kind of scary.

We are talking about the ONLINE adult industry, which is primarily based on selling memberships to adult paysites and - in less extent - on selling other products or services.

Do you want to eliminate the paysites completely and agree with the model in which you could be selling only dating, cams, pills or sex toys?

polish_aristocrat 02-23-2008 01:58 PM

compete.com seems way off

it's showing eg. worldsex.com to be more popular than megarotic.com
i don't know the exact daily numbers of neither but I don't think that's accurate

You are nuts. Compete.com is utterly off.

Splum 02-23-2008 02:22 PM

The only reason Alexa may be "on" for some of you is you use their toolbar lol.

LMAO...not even close to being true, and if you think it is true you know nothing about this industry.:2 cents:

I don't know what sites you have, but for me it's dead on. But then again, I don't have any skimmed or tricked traffic running through my sites, which some of you may have, giving you impression of a high traffic site, but it's not.

Alexa is always pretty good at tracking traffic volume for me - pretty accurate.

That's what I was wondering. Did they get so much traffic that Alexa's software couldn't cope and just looped the number back round to 0?

Exactly. Alexa is fairly accurate. Those that disagree generally know nothing about traffic volume or are trying to bolster the ad prices on their own sites. After countless media buys, we have an in house equation that gives a very close approximation of the traffic a site gets based on their ranking.

It's a tool and a good one.

share with us or it doesn't exist :winkwink:

Diligent 02-23-2008 06:15 PM

What those Alexa graphs show... is that examplified sites clearly are losing influx of NEW surfers (likely to tubes, possibly blogs as well) and are now just riding towards the sunset with their bookmarkers...
