                  We actually try to notify all our affiliates at least 10 days before the promo, which is why we emailed everyone earlier this week. 3 weeks in advance is overkill. I see many programs that give 2-3 days notice only, which is silly because it takes time to update links and create proper promo materials if you're really planning on making sales that day.

                          well, when you plan on buying traffic for that day, then the earlier you know, the better

                          on the other hand, I realize that for a program, an affiliate who will just buy traffic and send it to you on a promo day to make an easy profit, is pretty much wortheless, since that's not the goal of the promo
                          I don't use ICQ anymore.
