Stay away from cheap Dell laptop, they suck Juicy's ass.:2 cents: Get a Lenovo R series if the T/X is too expensive for you. |
Looks like a solid price for the hardware specs.
Not really a "great deal".... but, if cost is an issue, the favor's probably tipped on your side in that one. If cost is more of an issue than time is, I'd just do something like scan gotapex daily until the right recon came along. |

As he's buying a laptop for under $700, I imagine he doesn't wanna blow a load on it... upgrading processor speed would cost $100 to $200 every step of the way - with maybe not a whole lot to show for it until he's sank an additional $500+ into the processor. My personal philosophy on laptops it that they're for mobile access and don't have to be mobile powerhouses.... I'd rather buy a new economy laptop every year, and dump what cash I save from those purchases into my desktop hardware. |

Yeah, what's the processor speed? Compaq is low end though. If you have to have a windows machine get either a Toshiba or a high end Dell (stay away from the cheap ones, they use cheap hd's). But if you aren't married to windows go for a macbook http://www.apple.com/macbook/ For 1100 bucks you can't beat it.

Dell all the way

I've only had problems with Compaq laptops. Others I know as well. Would suggest against it.

But what I said still applies. You're already getting a Dual Core. Bumping up the processor speed is going to take you a few ranks before you might really notice a difference... so the question is, is the extra $500 worth the extra second or five per task? If you're working a lot in Photoshop or video editing or something - maybe it is... but then you should also plop down an extra $75 - 150 for a better graphics card... so you're already doubling your original price... Myself? I use my desktop for that kind of heavy lifting. |
Has anyone seen the ASUS EEEPCs, theyre like $300 and come with Linux pre installed and only 2gb harddrive but its a solid state one and they have WiFi, a camera and a microphone built in too.
