Best Convention Memories And Events

Howdy y'all...

We're thinking about getting back to shows and conventions this year and wanna do something memorable...

SO I wanna ask, of all of you who ever went to big shows, say the Florida Internext or Webmaster Access, over the years:

What are the most memorable events you've attended?

The funnest?

The most lucrative?

And finally - do you even remember the sponsors?

Thanks for your :2 cents:

:D

munki 02-22-2008 10:10 AM

xbiz hollywood last year...

tons of memories

Drew Barrymore getting hit in the head with a cock ring outside of hooters...

pictures with "donna" (that 70's show) at the roosevelt...

Meeting larry flynt and many many more memories from that show alone...

Kenny B! 02-22-2008 10:18 AM

Want memorable, go with toilet seats lol!

Actually one of the events that I enjoyed the most was the trip to the gun range at the JBM show a couple years back in Vegas. Good social event to network and everyone had a good time.

I remember some dumbass giving out bottles of Crystal to locals at a Lightspeed party in Phoenix one year. I'm sure Steve was thrilled with that bill but it sure left an impression on me about the generosity of sponsors--and the willingness of people at parties to screw them for it.

We'll be filling the Crystal bottles with warm pee this year...

The most memorable event for me was a party at the Platinum Bucks suite and what we call the "hot tube incident" - where I ended up in a hot tub buck ass naked with two models in a room full of photographers. I had a lot of explaining to do to my wife the next morning.

The best convention I ever went to was Florida Internext with Lightspeed Cash, Steve and Tanker. I bunked with Tanker and he's a blast. He got me hooked on Red Bull. We had no sonner landed when we were told the "Red Bull Car" was looking for us. They stocked us with enough Red Bull to last the entire trip. We worked all day, running the bath, drank all night - ALL NIGHT - hung out the pool, the hot tub, drank, the ocean.... at 7am we went up, showered, had some more Red Bull, and back to work. I went four days without sleep (no drugs).

Do I remember the sponsors? Sometimes. I tend to remember when National Net throughs a party; They are classy peeps.

Some of the best events at shows have been the over the top ones, such as the Lightspeed Helio race in Vegas, the TGP party on the boat at Internext.

The best show is Phoenix Forum, but the one I'm looking foward to the most is Cybernet Expo in San Fran.

It seems to me the best way to go is to gather a select group of strategic business prospects, but together a unique/vip function together for them. To me that seems to be the best way to close deals and get the best ROI from the event.

Quentin 02-22-2008 11:11 AM

Try as I might, I will never forget the night that I was left in charge of TopBucks' content shoot party at Internext in Las Vegas. (A night that proved, among other things, that I'm entirely ill-suited to direct porn....) I believe this was January, 2003.

A few of that night's more memorable moments:

* A young woman having sex with Ron Jeremy in front of her fiance on the eve of her wedding (actually, they might have been married earlier that day... not sure)

* A model with no porn experience whatsover doing her first ever shoot, and having the scene be a hardcore one performed with a "little person" in front of a room filled with camera-toting webmasters

* The hotel maintenance crew fixing the bathroom door while a man received a blowjob about two feet away from them -- and they didn't even bat an eyelash or say a word about it

* Our crew paying off hotel security to allow us to smuggle our own booze into the suite, in order to avoid paying the exhorbitant prices the hotel charged

Ahh... memories.

vidvicious 02-22-2008 11:36 AM

the most memorible party for me was National Net in Montreal .. damn what a night !

oh and a little gathering that Sleazy did a few years back in Pheonix .. Guns and steak .. it was a small gathering and very memorible

ronaldo 02-22-2008 12:08 PM

Topbucks always has interesting events and it's hard not to know who's sponsoring them. Pornapalooza was interesting years ago. The dinners they had at Opa in Miami. And of course their limo promo, even though it wasn't an event, I think it's hard not to remember who sponsored it.

Who doesn't know who runs the bikini contest at Florida Internext? Or the dodgeball contest in Phoenix? How about the Sagura (sp?) Soiree?

If you do something DIFFERENT, people will remember who sponsored it. With all due respect to those that run the little hotel gatherings with banners hung on the wall, most people probably DON'T remember the sponsors because there's 2 or 3 of them every night of every show.

I think that's really what you're looking for Greg. Justification to spend money on sponsoring something.

Note-In all fairness, there are usually smaller sponsors as well, but events like I mentioned above, people will remember the main sponsor...UNLESS a smaller sponsor does something very specific for you personally. That would certainly stick out. :2 cents:

The better stuff usually happens outside the official events... most "memorable" official event for me right now (with my advancing senility, of course) might be... ROCK BAND at the porn poker room at Internext Vegas.

The funnest EVENTS??? ummm.. the same. But again, usually the big official events are just too crowded, etc. etc.

I don't think an EVENT is in iteself lucrative. In my limited experience it's what I get myself to DO with the contacts I've made and information I've gained after an event. But generally I find the smaller the event the more "lucrative".

Not per say... but that's "branding." You don't specifically remember a particular sponsor, but logos and names continue to imprint in your subconscious and gain "status"

Bosco 02-22-2008 01:09 PM

This was pretty funny imo

The first year of the mansion party i promised my friend Said that i would bring him to the mansion...and i did but there is one problem...

he has been living the rock star life since he is 16 and somehow always managed to do it all without a job or money. always got to the best/hottest places and travels the world..it is still a mystery how he did/does it but this was a good moment after the party at the mansion in 2005 i believe.
This is what happens when you drink about 1 bottle of Jack at the playboy mansion !

I remember the limo rides that topbucks use to do - the special dinners and wet tshirt contests in the past. Parties that usually have alot of girls doing wild stuff or special treatment generally get noticed. The 2much boat parties were always great, but if your going to add to that - throw in some strippers or wild show like you guys did a few years back.

Generally few remember who sponsored events until they become standard entertainment and proven draw like lightspeed volleyball in phoenix. Doing it once simply isnt going to cut it anymore - make it ongoing and classy then you start seeing returns as people line up to get into the "party to be at" with any convention

I agree with Vic - planned events can be really nice, fun, lots of networking, and remembered by sponsor name, but many times the impromptu "events" are the most memorable and can create relationships that prove lucrative.

I also agree that was one great night of Rock Band in Vegas! :)

Since monica agrees with me, you know that this is the definitive answer, the thread should be closed. period.

The events themselves are easy to remember if they had a unique theme of if they were held at a memorable place but as far as remembering the sponsors I have to agree that those companies like CamZ & NetBilling that put on the highly successful PornPoker Tournaments on an ongoing basis are probably the best for remembering who the sponsor was. Same with the Lightspeed Dodgeball at Phoenix and the Silvercash Bikini contest at Internext.

Memorable ones for me:
Playboy Mansion Parties
Rum Jungle - Multiple Sonsors - Vegas Internext 2006
Topbucks - OPA Internext Miami 2006
Latincash Bowling Suite Party - XBIZ Summer 2006
WEG Saguaro Soiree - Phoenix 2006
NatNet Ebor City - Cybernet 2007

Personally I have enjoyed many of the larger parties that have multiple sponsors but I agree that to get the most bang for the buck in the beginning you should start out with something that you sponsor exclusively if you can afford it and if it is a success then you can build on it at future conventions.

The Jungle Bash. I remember Epiccash being a main sponsor to that one. Again, I have NO idea about the others.

Hell House Vic 02-22-2008 03:14 PM

Almighty Jim reminded me...

I guess it was, yeah it was Webmaster Access West this year... the party at the bowling alley was fucking FUN.

I like when events have something that you can actually do, a game, a sport, etc - - - makes them less boring and akward.

I have no conscious idea who sponsored the bowling alley / lucky strike - - - but i can bet you that the next time i saw / see the name of the people involved that was associated with being a major spender / "playa"

CaseyCupcakes 02-22-2008 03:50 PM

unfortunately none of you saw poor dusty pass out in the reg area at xbiz hollywood last month... shmeklir where are those pics?! that was extremely retarded yet hilarious

CuriousToyBoy 02-22-2008 04:02 PM

Fuck.

I would not know where to start or where to finish if I did start.

:-)

Getting laid by two black hookers at the Incredible Bucks party at Internext 2 years ago in the bathroom of their suite. That was quite memorable. It was a little while before anyone could access the bathroom at that party.

Net Money 02-23-2008 04:17 AM

A few years back at Internext in Florida the Belly Flop contest was a blast...:thumbsup

JimmiDean 02-23-2008 04:46 AM

I remember being on a boat that got stopped by the Miami coastguard once.

Thanks for the words Jim. We are happy that you and so many others enjoy the Porn Poker Tour. We are planning the next event at Phoenix Forum but are still finalizing details. Rock Band was a big hit in our Vegas suite so we will probably incorporate that as well. Stay tuned.

Thanks

Watching Alli have to tap Ron Jeremy on the back as he's fucking a chick to tell him it's time to cum.

I really do love the topbucks themed dinner parties. They always are a real fun time, they always get the entire restaurant and usually provide lots of live entertainment. Always a great time :)
