Canadians - Whats a good city to live in?

I may have a study year out at a unviersity in Canada and I am just browsing around at the moment. I lost the list listing the names of the univeristies, but they were prettty much in the main cities, torronto, ottowa, montreol.

So im just wondering which are the most livley cities, with the hottest girls, best bars to drink in and maybe near some ski resorts (hehe)

Anyway wheres some top places. Im getting sick to death of england :disgust.

p.s. i heard weed is practically legal there, noone cares, am i correct?

Eva PSC 02-21-2008 05:39 PM

well I live in Toronto for 5 years now and I like it here. I wouldn't live anywhere else in Canada.

My mom and sis live in England and I got there twice a year, London is very nice to look at but I wouldn't live there. Each time I get home from there I am all excited about my brand new condo and contemporary look in the city. English Victorian style is nice to look at, but feels reaaally old inside.

I guess I'm off topic here lol. All in all, I recommend Toronto :thumbsup

tehHinjew 02-21-2008 05:41 PM

montreal is too baller for you

aico 02-21-2008 05:42 PM

I think you got it backwards, the University you choose should be more important.

BOSS1 02-21-2008 05:43 PM

montreal my homy

jaysmoke 02-21-2008 05:44 PM

Toronto is great but PinkStarCash ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chef86 02-21-2008 05:52 PM

North Bay and Sudbury are pretty affordable. You can get a decent 1-2 bedroom all inclusive apartment for $600 a month. Both places have colleges as well North Bay has Canadore and Nippising University Sudbury has a couple as well.

BlackCrayon 02-21-2008 05:54 PM

Montreal is probably best for parties and girls but if you don't speak any french, might be a problem with some people and getting jobs. I like ottawa. We've got two universities here and you don't have the crazy rent rates like in toronto or the traffic jams as much.

The Judge 02-21-2008 06:00 PM

You'll freeze your ass off in Toronto/Montreal, maybe Vancouver but it rains there ALL the time and is 80% Indochin. I'd stay away from Canada.

Yeah what he just said. Id go to Clark County Community College in Vegas and take a Black Jack Dealer class.

garce 02-21-2008 06:07 PM

Toronto has already been mentioned, but Windsor is a pretty lively place when classes are in, and I'm personally partial to Halifax.

webgurl 02-21-2008 06:14 PM

Vancouver but u better make alot of $$$
or u will be living in a basement suite of someone's house

The Sultan Of Smut 02-21-2008 06:15 PM

Vancouver = Pleasant weather, gorgeous women, so so hockey.
Montreal = Cold winters, easy women, best hockey.
Toronto = Hot and muggy in the summer, cold in the winter, shitty hockey.

Out of the three cost of living is probably lowest in Montreal and the most expensive in Vancouver. I'm under the impression that the night life is better in both Toronto and Montreal, I dunno your choice. I'm not originally from Vancouver but considering the amount of Torontonians that live here I'd have to say this city isn't too shabby :)

Martin 02-21-2008 06:16 PM

Toronto.

Elli 02-21-2008 06:18 PM

Vancouver is an amazing city, but nightlife is not its strong point. If you like outdoor activities, it's great. Island hopping or driving up the Sunshine Coast on a summer long weekend is a perfect quick getaway. If you want nightlife, I'd say Montreal is more your kind of city.

BenZino69 02-21-2008 06:27 PM

Halifax in the summer is a great place to live (been here my whole life, and have traveled everyweres else in Canada) the night life is amazing, where the only province with clubs serve drinks till 330.. lots of girls i think its like a 6:1 ratio good universities also St.Mary's, Dalhousie etc..

BenZino69 02-21-2008 06:30 PM

oh and to answer your question about weed being pretty much legal, if its under half oz and not in seperate baggies you get away with a small fine (i think its like 150$)

That's the funniest shit I've heard all day!

Burnt Bacon 02-21-2008 06:31 PM

Toronto's very business, Montreal is party-central, and Vancouver is quite laid back. You can't go wrong with any of them, they're all top notch places to hunker down for a while.

Sudbury affordable??? Are you insane? I live in Sudbury and it's not affordable.. Apartments are hard to find and the ones you do find are over priced shit holes. Maybe buying a house wouldn't be so bad, but if you're gonna rent, good luck.

You will not get a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment for $600/month around here unless you want to live in a complete shit hole.

You can rent a ROOM for $500/month, but not a decent apartment in a good area. Also, you will NEVER get a decent 1 bedroom apartment here all inclusive. Like I said, as long as you don't mind living in a total shit hole than it's all good.

Yes, we have Cambrian College, College Boreal and Laurentian University.

My girlfriend lives in a ONE bedroom apartment in Sudbury, it's SMALL and she pays $675. Her landlord said that when she moves he will charge $750 for it.

Spunky 02-21-2008 06:52 PM

In most cases you don't even get fined... they just take it away, in Calgary at least.

Edmonton housing prices aren't that bad compared to Calgary or Vancouver, definitely overpriced for living in the middle of a prairie though. Damn oil business, lol.

You just have to know were to look. You are right Sudbury is much more affordable but some good places to check for appartments in North Bay are www.baytoday.ca and www.northbayclassifieds.com and no those aren't my sites but I wish they were both two of the most popular ones in my area.

donkevlar 02-21-2008 07:29 PM

I don't care, just stay out of Vancouver..

Enough douchebags here already.

Ha ha ha... might have been the case 3 years ago. It's like the fucking states now though. Fucking Vancouver police.. I saw them haul off this kid who had ONE JOINT in a park.. threw his ass in the wagon and everything.

Mutt 02-21-2008 07:41 PM

check out Queens University and University of Western Ontario - two great schools in real college towns - you'll have a far better time at those schools than in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

karrimuse 02-21-2008 07:48 PM

CaptainHowdy 02-21-2008 07:59 PM

moeloubani 02-21-2008 08:01 PM

I was just about to post this. University of Western Ontario is there, and you don't have to put up with the rat race in Toronto.

Toronto is too busy and seems to be overrun with a shitload of people that aren't....ummm.....white.

L-Pink 02-21-2008 08:29 PM

Most Canadians will say Tampa.

Validus 02-21-2008 08:35 PM

I love Calgary... it is always sunny!!! Yea, I like it here!

Spunky 02-21-2008 08:38 PM

VeriSexy 02-22-2008 07:13 AM

Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal are the big 3

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 02-22-2008 07:15 AM

goto vancouver if you want to be in a major canadian city near resorts. you got some great local hills, and you're within easy driving distance to whistler (if you like overpriced yuppy resorts)
