What is the easiest way to answer email with your server's IP?
I need to answer an email with the IP of my server, however, that is not possible using an email client on my computer at home as that shows the mail generated from my home IP. What would be the easiest way to do this. I tried through SSH but failed miserably at it. Might be easiest just to call the host and have them do it from the actual server.

thats a good question?

echo "hi this is my message" | mail [email protected]

That's the whole idea behind it, hosts ON PURPOSE do not want you to send emails from their servers because they are afraid of spammers.

I agree, they should allow it for normal mail traffic.

there may be a way to rewrite the header which has the information using a special sendmail config server side but I'll be damned if I know off the top of my head. What went wrong when you got to the shell using SSH? Then use a console program such as pine. Would work for one at least.
