smoking and diabetes
Hi All,
This is only a warning to those of you with diabetes and I need to get it off my chest, because I am furious with my brother. He is 34 years old and this morning he had two HEART ATTACKS! He has diabetes, smokes, does not exercise and his eating habits are aweful. Treat Your body like You treat your car! It needs service as well as Your car. *hugs and kisses* |
Damn..hope he finally wakes up before it's too late

I do as well, for the first time in my life I am going to scream at him, and that will be loud as hell. I want him to be around for a long time, 34 is way to young to already have destroyed your body that much.
Thanks for answering. I am going to scream at a wall now since i need to get some anger out. Sue |
don't get tired of reminding him. he'll soon realize that health is wealth.
|
wow....thats why i exercise everyday and have never smoked . . but I drink alot!
|
smoking should be forbidden.
|
Ok, didn´t scream that much since the first thing he told me was that he was scared. It just amazes me how a lot of people service their cars, change oil etc etc but never takes the time to exercise, eat well and think about their own body as a machine that needs the same attention.
Gone from angry to sad, it is really hard since we are in different countries. *hugs and kisses* |
Thanks for the reminder! :)

that's why i don't smoke (i hate cigarette)!!!.... so reminder for those people who smoke that smoking is dangerous to your health!!!

Get him a decent treadmill or bike or something. A digital kitchen scale would be nice too. A years supply of walnuts or other heart healthy food could be helpful for him in terms of proactive everyday help maybe also.
I had my heart attack at 42, and it was sedentary lifestyle, smoking (for about 30 yrs straight) and family history as the primary culprits according to my doctors. Diet was not great, but also not terrible. The other things have way more impact since you either do them or you dont! Getting off my ass and walking for 30 minutes a day and quitting smoking was so much harder for me, and still is quite honestly! But food changes were super simple. If he likes potato chips, he should eat rice cakes or popcorn. If he likes ice cream, tell him to buy applesauce and frozen blueberries. They're great together as a snack. As I said walnuts, and mix with fat free pudding is damn good and all you need is 42 grams of walnuts to get a dose of omega 3. Anyway, good luck to him. All you can do is give positive encouragement and maybe make a gift of something proactively good for him. |
PR_Tom,
Thanks so much for your feedback. I think he is ready for a lifestyle change, this could be a good thing in the end. *hugs and kisses* |
