when you hear remakes of songs that were popular when you were in high school and junior high and your kids have no idea the song is not a brand new song and was popular 15 years ago

ronaldo 02-20-2008 01:15 PM

I'm not a fan of his, but I felt REALLY old when I realized that Brad Pitt is only 5 years removed from being 50.

pornguy 02-20-2008 01:16 PM

I got carded the other day, and you would be amazed how old I am.

Ok, Im not baddog old, but...

UniversalPassLorence 02-20-2008 01:20 PM

I opened a door for a college girl today before work (there is a college around our office) and she replied " Thank you SIR". That made me feel old :Oh crap

RevengeBucks_Monica 02-20-2008 01:23 PM

When you hear "I didn't know they had pot when you were in highschool"... then you feel old.

CDSmith 02-20-2008 01:29 PM

Actually, yesterday I got a good dose of feeling young. I ran into a guy in the supermarket I used to work with, he is 5 years younger than me but now has a full head of grey hair, while I only have the barest trace of it. He pointed at his kid as the cause of it. :D

But my old-age reality check came last year when it was annouced that the compact disc was 25 years old. :(

I'm thinking of changing my name to DVDsmith.

You fell behind, so now why not jump ahead? BluRaySmith sounds nice.

Scootermuze 02-20-2008 03:23 PM

When you're going through family photos with neices and nephews, and you're the one that knows who all of the older relatives are..

Kind of a, "Ohhh noooo... I'm that person now!"

Brother Bilo 02-20-2008 05:09 PM

I'm just glad I haven't hit the stage where people no longer laugh when I hurt myself.

Like the old joke goes - the young daughter says, "You mean Paul McCartney had a band before Wings?!"

GrouchyAdmin 02-21-2008 07:11 AM

Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and Def Leppard on an oldies station. Shit. Ok. I'll accept that, but you need to STOP PLAYING PINK FLOYD ALREADY!

lol..welcome to my world. Despite being a punk chick in the terms of my musical tastes, I have long had a secret love for Hall and Oates and damn do those songs get stuck. 'She's Gone' will stay there for days if I hear it once.

Sethseekstruth 02-21-2008 07:37 AM

Having kids in college makes me feel really old, all the local newscasters on TV look like mddle schoolers.

"Out of Touch / Out of Time", here. I blame GTA for that, though.

Another one: Realizing that I'm now "as old as" what I still mentally think of my parents as being. :(

Which has the appropriate lyric of 'I'm out of my head'.

I also know what you mean about the parents. Mine are approaching 60 now and since I don't see them all that often, due to having moved to the UK, I have to really think about it not to see them as the age they were when I left high school.

Or how about when the younger members of your family look at you and ask:
"You know the words to that song? How?"

and you reply with "I was around when it first came out" :pimp

(last time it happened to me was a Led Zep song from the early 70's, friend's kids all thought it was a new song.)

Brother Bilo 02-21-2008 11:39 AM

One I'm feeling right now is that my back is sore from playing slow pitch softball last night. WTF?!? It's slow pitch, shouldn't be sore from that.

I know it is well known in the UK but perhaps it didn't make it to other parts of Europe?

http://imdb.com/title/tt0093779/ - one of the best kids films ever. While it is for a young audience it isn't dumb nor talks down to the audience. It is just a really good fantasy with some class actors. Plus, it has Andre the Giant in it..what isn't to love?

Sorry to hear that. I have seen them twice in London in the last few years and both times they were excellent. They were fairly small gigs though so maybe that helped.

this was super small also

maybe the fact that they were in a no alcohol place killed it going to a concert where you cant have a beer or 2 sucks ass.

im not a huge fan but my friends where and they were disappointed also :(

People have bad nights, I guess. Both times I saw them they were great. They did a lot of old Philly soul and since I am a Philly girl that loves Philly soul it worked well for me. Hall sang a version of Me and Mrs Jones that was truly excellent. The first time I had been to see Cradle Of Filth the night before and wondered if I was the only person alive that had done Cradle Of Filth and Hall and Oates back to back.
