If celebrities were BANNED from news...

Would people care about them anymore? For example if all news stations stopped reporting on ALL celebrity action/death/births would anyone still bother keeping tabs on them? Or do you think that BECAUSE news reports, we are interested - or better yet just bored enough to be interested?

For the record I don't give a shit about celebs.

then we would talk about sports players

and if they were banned...

we would talk about politicians.....& then they'd really be in trouble :2 cents:

News?Who today checking news?If you want to read/hear about celebreties, they you visit sites which have only such content.

marko13 02-20-2008 12:02 PM

there will be no celebrities at all... all of their fame we hear from the news... so the will be buried somewhere without fame...

I'd just be happy if they instituted the new paparazzi law they were talking about. You want to take photos, fine. But no more crawling on top of cars to get your shot. Keep your distance.

I think even THAT would cause a drop in interest. Partly because the photographers wouldn't themself be putting the celebrity in a compromising position where they may panic, and the upskirt photos would be fewer and farther between. Which we all know is the first thing they're going for nowadays.

They don't need to be banned from news but banned from real news. They need to separate entertainment news and real news. Ban them from "real news" shows.

That would be ideal, but unfortunately that line was crossed 20 years ago and we'll never go back.

i hate them and the media who covers that shit - it was ok when it was People magazine and Entertainment Tonight - i'd read and watch those occassionally. America turned into the UK with its obsession with celebs and scandals. National Enquirer and most others in that game hired UK people to come over and run their magazines and TV shows. And of course Rupert Murdoch's large imprint on American culture.

It's impossible to get away from - my homepage is MSN - I want no celebs on my homepage and no daily news that this or that causes cancer.

I love talented people and I actually think Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are good film actors - limited but good leading men. I just don't want to know anything about them or see them anywhere but on a TV or movie screen.

Wouldn't it be so nice to actually get the news rather then having to sit through a 20 minute segment on who Britney Spears is fucking or the countless hours spent on rehab stories.

munki 02-20-2008 12:29 PM

bingo we have a winner.

Most newspapers are owned by quasi politicians. Deflecting attention from politicians and governmental (in)action is exactly what they're doing it for.
