Brittany Andrews Says Goodbye to LA and the Adult Industry
 

Last night my good friend Brittany Andrews had her going away party at the Standard in downtown Los Angeles. I had very mixed emotions at the party. I was very happy to see that Brittany was moving on with her life to go to film school; yet I was sad to see such a good friend move away, and leave behind the industry that she has been a part of for 15 years.

She granted me the honor of doing the final video interview of her career, which I captured for AEBN. In the interview she said a couple things that really stuck out. She said she was thankful for the career in the adult industry; unlike a lot of other girls, she had nothing bad to say about her time in front of the camera. She also said she was leaving because it has gotten so much harder for a small independent producer, like herself, to compete. Many movie producers like Brittany have struggled to make the transition from the one where people bought VHS tapes then DVD?s, to one where porn is available everywhere online.

Brittany ran Britco pictures in downtown Los Angeles for ten years. Boy do I have some vivid memories from that place. Brittany and I also had many great adventures together. Just a few of the places we filmed were Tallinn, Estonia; Miami, Florida; London, England; Washington, DC; New York City, etc?To quote Brittany, ?We dp?d a lot of bitches!?.

Brittany accomplished some great things. The culmination of which was when she was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame last month. She was named one of the top ten Porn stars of all time by Playboy Magazine, and was nominated for several AVN Awards as producer and performer. Brittany always did things her own way, and was a true maverick and pioneer. I wish her the best in film school, and can?t wait to see the new films, that she produces when gets out of film school.

Sad about her leaving... we were partners at an FSC "Lobbying Days" event a few years ago, and she's one smart cookie. She did a great job representing the industry in Sacramento.

Also had the pleasure to hang out with her a little bit at Cybernet Expo and she's a fun person to be around... I hope she has nothing but success in the future.
