So when you see these deer at your door, the first thing you think of, and evidently the first thing other people here think of ... is your belly?

Isn't that the problem with the world ... stop thinking about food every time you look at an animal ;)

Rifles and bows seem to be the most efficient methods.

They are so overpopulated here where I am that they've up the kill limit several times over the years. They are starving to death especially with the drought. Hunters who kill more than they eat donate the food.

Back when I had just my old dogs I had a record of 22 deer at once at the salt lick. It was cute because the big buck (8 point, which is big for here) was circling around and never would come near - just making sure everyone else was OK :)

Now that I have the two younger dogs barking like crazy they rarely hit the salt lick any more. But they're still all over the place. Every once in a while I'll hear the clacking of two males getting into it with their antlers. And venison tastes GOOD :thumbsup

aw how cute, eat them.

Rocks are a time honored weapon. Some chipped flint and a stick.
Looks tasty to me.

Peaches,

I think I remember seeing a few of those.

I have all sorts of critters where I live but I'm not rural enough for deer.

I remember fall in Yellowstone a few years back and the elk all over the campgrounds.

PK - I've seen the pictures you've posted of your house (which I love). You have what I'll NEVER have - LANDSCAPING :) Those little deer bastards eat everything. Rhododendrons are the only flowering anything I've gotten to grow except the crepe myrtle which I've let get so high they can't reach it. Anything else has been eaten :( The worst was when I bought plants and didn't do anything more than take them out of the car and the next day they were all dead. I guess they saved me the heartache of planting them first though.

Yes, I live ON a mountain. Many gay couples here too. I guess we could rename it Brokeback Mountain :thumbsup
