TOKYO (Reuters) - Toshiba Corp is planning to stop production of equipment compatible with the HD DVD format for high-definition video, allowing the competing Blu-Ray camp a free run, public broadcaster NHK reported on Saturday.
This is good news! This format war was killing the HD industry, since many consumers were not buying HD equipements because of the format war. :thumbsup

Now the worlds largest retailer Walmart has officialy announced that effective June 2008 it will support Blu-Ray over HD-DVD.

Yes, it's official now, they gave up, too bad for a good technology. Blu-ray may be better, but more expensive.
