Stock Photography
 

I've been looking for stock photography. Something similar to this picture:

That image, costs $660US dollars. Which to me, is fuckin' ridiculous. Does anyone know anywhere that offers similar pictures for a reasonable price?

I've found quite a few places with images for a few dollars, and while the photography is just as good, i've had a hard time finding people in the positions i'd like them to be!

Actually after I got back from my last 6 month drive around the country, My account told me if I had taken lotsa pics and put them on a site I could have used the whole trip as a tax deduction.

I started taking lotsa pics when I left but after the first month every fucking city looked the same.

Thats about the right price for a stock photo like that.

Different economics to shooting porn. Images are sold individually and you often never sell an image so it has to average out.

I understand that, but i've seen entire CD's of similar images (well, from what i can tell from the samples at least) for half that price. It's just that i don't want a whole CD, i just want one image.

stock photography is very expensive, they've got usage rules coming out their asses.

But just like the porn biz how much of the work on mainstream sites is legally licensed? NOT MUCH!

i can go to most websites and id which stock houses the images were taken from.

If u wanna be legal the best thing to do is buy some stock photo CD's from places like Eyewire.

Corbis is pretty expensive. And if you're looking for inexpensive you can try Art Today

Well, the entire point of this thread was to go about it legally. If i didn't want to, i could have just taken the picture i linked to. I'm just not prepared to pay 600 US dollars for it, so i won't use it!

It's not actually essential that i use a picture for this layout. It's just an attempt to fill a bit of a void in the design. Looks okay wihtout anything there, i just figured i'd add something to make it seem more complete.

If you don't want to pay a lot, go to arttoday.com or some other clipart site. They have stock photos, too. A lot cheaper than that.
