when you are near the police ...
Do you feel more like you have something to hide or that you are being protected?
|
Cops make me nervous, even though I got nothing to hide
|
i fell better if no cops are nearby
|
I do feel like I got something to hide.. I just don't know what. They make me nervous. :/

I get scared! I used to have a cop phobia.
Especially if they are driving behind me, omg. I don't know know if I should turn to lose them or what, even though I didn't do anything wrong and have NOTHING to hide, they just really scare me. I'm afraid that I will get nervous for no reason and that I'll swerve or something. I'm a bad driver in general but I get scared easily. I actually kinda shake when they are driving behind me and my heart pounds fast and I feel sweaty. I shouldn't though, I don't do anything illegal. It's just that the sight of a cop car looks scary. I don't know why. It just looks intimidating I guess. It's like a phobia. |
I used to feel like that even though I never did anything wrong.
but that changed when I took over managment of my apt. building and had to have quite a bit of contact with the police because of really loud undesirable screwed tenants I needed to get evicted. Now I have no problems talking to cops and do not feel nervous around them. |
Most of the people on this board bitch about them non stop. But when something happens, like their home is burglarized, or their car is stolen, whats the first number that they call??? They don't call a friend, they call 911.
If you want to understand the cops a little more go to the local police station, and see if you can ride along for a shift. Keep your mouth shut, and pay attention to whats going on, and you will see the light on a lot of things that they do. |
We make a right turn at the first right turn. Neither of us have anything to hide. We don't feel comfortable with a cop in the rear view mirror.

I have no real problem having a cop around me when I'm out and about, BUT when I'm driving and one pulls up behind me, it's like instant panic, even when I'm driving the speed limit.
|
Whenever I'm crusing around with a tail light out, no shirt on, no id, a bunch of crack in the glovebox, after smacking my girlfriend, I'm afraid those cops with the cameras will hassle me.

I agree with the majority of sentiments in this thread. I also get a little spooked even tho I have nothing to worry about. Strange.
|
I hate being around cops. I always have a creepy feeling they are going to abuse their power and fuck me over for no reason.
|
cops make me feel safer. I like it when there are cops around.
|
nothing to hide at all...
|
What does annoy me is when the speed limit is 70, a cop shows up and everyone slows down to like 63.
|
I have respect for most cops but they still make nervous. Probably stems from a episode in my youth when i was staring down the barrel of a cop's shotgun.
|
I don't give a flying fuck when they are close to me but they seem to always pay more attention to me... Must be the exposed tattoos on neck and hand.
|
|
what a world we live in where our public servants make us hesitant when they are near by.. i too get a chill, but then i guess in a police-state that's whats supposed to happen, huh?
|
everyone should be a little afraid of people who got their ass kicked in high school and are now going to "show everyone" wassup
me personally....I'm not....then again I'm totally fucking insane i purposely speed by cops who are doing the speed limit..... why? fear arouses contempt in the heart of a pig....show no fear....he will filter you out |
Its natural to be nervous when a cop is around. Its not like they hide the fact that alot of them go outside the law per what they feel is their god given right after putting on the badge. I know all about the head trips alot of these guys get on after joining the force after many years of emotional abuse over their short comings. I have been close with cops who never wear their seatbelt, drive 100 MPH down back streets in their civilian car because they know they wont get in trouble. Alot of them take steroids to keep up with the criminals and have severe emotional problems because they cant keep a woman happy because of crazy hours and flawed perseonalities. Its a sick cycle but its been the same since the irish started being cops in the early days. Power breeds greed and a sense of entitlement.

I just hate them. Been fucked over by the cops a few too many times and that was before I started driving a cab. Worthless cocksuckers are never around when you need them, but they are always up your ass when you just want a bit of alone time......

It doesn't matter if I'm doing the speed limit with all my paperwork in order, it still makes me nervous with a cop behind me. I'm pretty sure that won't ever change either.

It's a another great reason to avoid densely populated areas.

Fuck I do that too. I feel safe with or without cops. Doesn't really matter. They don't make me nervous at all. |
Cops are usually pretty cool. They're just doing their job. I've been able to talk myself out of a ticket about 50% of the time...including one for excessive display of speed. :)

i have no grudge to police or whatsoever but I'd rather be alone than having a police on my side... they made me feel uncomf'table.
|
not so much nervous as cautious ..check seat belt .. check speed .. make sure there is no open liquor ... *yeah i know it's 8:00am officer* ... is insurance up to date .. like a check list i do every time .. not doing anything wrong usually . but fuck i just hate being hassled for no reason and if there is legitimately no reason I can go off on them ..

Most cops are assholes on power trips. What I've found out about cops is that they have NO desire to help the public what so ever OTHER than catching criminals doing violent crimes and beating them up as they do it.
That's the only thing a cop wants to do.... aggresively catch violent criminals. They don't want to answer simple questions or help you in public in any mannter other than catching a criminal. If a cop is walking down the street...don't bother to ask him directions cause you're lost...you're wasting his precious time....he will talk down to you and treat you like shit...he will treat you as if you're a possible criminal. Any conversation I've had with police officers have always been like that...they simply talk down to everyone as if we're all crack head criminals ready to attack them...even if u give them no reason to and are simply asking for help... I have a good friend who's an officer. He grew up in a good family and even went to catholic high school for a few years. He went into the military after high school and now he's a cop. He was one of the nicest, most honest guys I've ever known. Now the stories he tells me about his job simply turn my stomach and make me realize just how corrupt ALL cops are. There is no such thing as an honest cop. They are all dishonest to a certain degree and some are worse than the criminals! Police officers are a catch 22. We need them for a civil society...but most are no better than the criminals they are suppose to catch. |
Neither. They aren't any different than seeing a farmer, someone in the military, an EMT worker, a teacher or a grocery store clerk.
I HATE it when people see a police car on the side of the road and damn slow down to UNDER the speed limit. Then I look like an idiot as I come racing up behind them. When my son died the AF requires 2 people from the AF and two people from the local law enforcement agency to come and tell the survivors. Because I don't actually live in a city, that meant the county sheriff's office came. Not only were they amazingly helpful and kind, but they sent me a condolence card - and not just one with their names signed on it - they had each written very kind notes. Plus one of my all time favorite people is a NOLA policeman ;) |
