What would happen if Obama is assassinated?
 

If you recall the L.A riots, today in a Canadian online newspaper there was this following article:

I hope Obama is given a fair chance at winning the presidency and should he win, fulfilling his term of office however, should anything happen to him I was wondering if there would be retaliatory acts. There is alot more to be concerned with of couse other than such acts if there were any whatsoever (such as losing a good President) however I just couldn't help but think about what the public reaction might be.

All this talk of Obama assasination is crazy, it makes me uncomfortable.

1. "What would happen?" Under the constitution, if any President dies, the VP becomes President. Retaliation... against whom? If the assasin were caught, he would go to jail. Riots? I seriously doubt it. The LA riots happened because of perceived government abuses against minorities. Why riot against a lone racist madman or even a few of them?

2. Obama has little chance of winning the general election.

3. The Secret Service is very skilled at protecting the President.

4. There are very few white racist groups left in the US, and even fewer ones advocating violence.

Vegas bookies are giving 4-1 odds that Obama will be assassinated before November.

It would make for some entertaining chimpouts and riots.

In reality if he wins the white house there will be a lot of unhappy groups of backwoods redneck idiots, but they won't do anything. Most of these types of people talk a lot but never act. Look at all the anti-abortion people there are who advocate violence, but there is rarely ever any actual violence. They all talk a big game, but rarely follow through. The Secret Service is second to none so anyone willing to kill a president must be willing to trade their life to even have a chance at taking his and there are very few of those types of people around.
