i've read lots of retarded shit on gfy that was not understood, so it is actually possible for someone to speak in a way that is misunderstood or not understood at all.

the point of the quote is that no matter how clear your statement is that a portion of your audience will always be too stupid or biased or whatever to understand what you said/wrote.
