yeah I have the GVD1000 as well .. it was an awesome tool .. this new one is killer .. it is a Sony GV-HD700 and it smokes the GVD 1000 and I just paid after all taxes shipping and such $1560.00 ...hell just for stripeing tapes and such they are cheaper than replacing heads and huge spooling hours ...

as well cable connections .. to answer above ..

1 x IEEE 1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) ( 4 pin FireWire ), 1 x USB, 1 x Composite video/audio input ( RCA phono x 3 ), 1 x S-Video input ( 4 pin mini-DIN ), 1 x Headphones ( Mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm ), 1 x Composite video/audio output, 1, 1 ( 19 pin HDMI Type A ), 1 x S-Video output

Why does that picture make me think I'm going to be overly busy again soon...

What does this unit do that the GVD1000 can't? (aside from HD support?)

Certainly looks nice :)
