Those of you who think Obama is winning only with the black vote?

How do you explain Maine?

I'm saying Obama takes it straight to the white house this time...assuming he doesn't get derailed by that fucked up wicked witch of the west.

Go Obama!

And remember we backed you when it comes to porn legislation time. :winkwink:

If he didn't preach speeches like a sermon, I might be able to listen to what he has to say...

i think you're just used to speeches by politicians that cannot grasp the English language

Have you noticed how there is no noise, how there is no one yet out there putting "embarassing" information about Obama?

Republicans are salivating at the chance of sending Obama back to Kenya after all the dirt comes out.

Just remember those keywords; Farrakhan, money laundering, Revisionist (not Obama but a very very close ally and potential cabinet member), racism and some very interesting "sexual" predicaments.....

However, judging from how Hillary is doing, she might be the one who starts to let the shit out.

If you really want a Democrat in the White House, then you should support Clinton, with her there aren't many surprises, pretty much all the scandals have already come out...

Its another caucus state that is heavily in his favor due to the nature of how a caucus is run and the types of people that are willing to put in the time and effort to do it. Unlike a primary which is a level playing field that allows voting all day and works around your schedule and not you working around its schedule. Obama has a very educated, affluent base and in caucus states that is extremely important to get out the limited voters. In a primary state you get a truer representation of the state and America. And the two states that are mainly white that he has won are Connecticut and Utah.

He is not only getting the black vote, but he is certainly riding the black vote and caucus states to be where he is. If it was just based on states outside the south and primary votes it wouldn't be even close. She won Cali, NY, Mass, New Jersey, Florida and is heavily favored to win Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Pornography will be STOMPED on if hillary gets into office.

Everyone here (in America) will be out of business, or moving to another country. Period.

Mark my words

Tom_PM 02-11-2008 12:03 PM

"black vote". "Latino vote" "womens vote"
All retarded phrases kept in the spotlight by those who dont know any better.

Where was the meeting for black voters where they all decided to vote the same regardless of who they think would be a good leader?

Where was the meeting for latino's for that purpose? For women?

Gee guess what, people vote for who they think will be the best leader. Even if they're black, or latin, or women! Oh the horror can it be???? gasp!!!

:P

I don't necessarily believe that supporting Clinton is the only way to get a Democrat into the whitehouse, but I do believe that Hillary has been reserved as not to sabotage the parties chances and do the dirty work for the republicans and let him skate some. And I do think the media's refusal to dig at him at all is a joke, but McCain and the republicans will be ruthless and let every single thing he has ever done into the open fast and furious. And then it will be a test of his resolve and the nations desire for a Dem vs a Republican.

I agree with Hillary you know what you get. With Obama there is a rosy picture being painted right now but underneath the picture is uncertainty and we will certainly get a better idea of it soon.

Tom while I agree that the terms and way its slung around is a bit of a joke. But that does not discount the fact when a man is getting 80-84% of the black vote in the south that it is a race vote at that point. When you're at a % that high you leave the statistics realm of probability and enter outside factors. Just like if Hillary was getting 85% of the womens vote then it would be a clear gender line being pulled. Unless you were seeing 75-90% of the vote being across the line from Men, Women, White, Black, Latino. Then you got a case for it just being the best candidate and issues related to them.

WOW Maine. That'll win an election in November. Go look at the overall number, he's on average only winning 1/3 of the white vote. And these are DEMOCRATS. And hispanics are voting for Hillary. Sorry but if McCain can get 75% of the white vote and split the hispanic vote he's going to win. So Obama gets 97% of the black vote in Novemeber. ANY democrat would get 90%.

Tom_PM 02-11-2008 12:24 PM

I think that 20% of registered democrats are african americans nationwide. He clearly needs a wide appeal, which he definitely has. I think people just want more details, more past voting records and stuff like that to get a clearer picture of his day to day skill.

In the end, in every election to come, the media WILL declare that this or that group of people "made the difference". And while that's inevitable it's also sophistry really.. because in the end, ALL the votes made the difference.

Agree with everything you said especially in a general election where its a level playing field and every vote is the same and counts.

In the nominations for each party it is different as less voters, and the caucus states are run much different than a primary. I am not saying he is only where he is because of the black vote, but also a major part is the caucus states which favor him greatly and is an advantage he would lose come the general election.

Yeah, the caucus states are where having this energetic "ground swell" type support is pure gold! You just need a great stump speech which he has, and your supporters will absolutely jam the caucus sites. I think it's cool that people understand this stuff more and more. Taking the old-school media people by surprise, I love it. hehee

Alky 02-11-2008 01:09 PM

Obama doesn't want to debate Clinton..... but he wants to open up talks with every nation that hates the US. Yea makes sense, I'm sure he'd do just as bad with those nations leaders as he would up against Clinton.

Alky 02-11-2008 01:11 PM

Oh yea, and every time Clinton brings up policy, Obama says something along the lines of "I don't want to make this a policy debate, I just want the good people of the US who I love so much who are making this race the greatest race ever because they want CHANNNNNGE"

Spare me the bullshit.

That is one of the things that frustrates me most about Obama.

As for the refusing to debate Clinton, I wouldn't if I was him either. He is not very good in debates, he has more money than her and is gaining momentum because the media is letting him skate on his lack of substance. I wouldn't change a thing if I were him and stick to his stumps and don't give the media a reason to knock him. Not that they ever would. Except Pat Buchhanan.

Michaelious 02-11-2008 01:19 PM

I'm still not sure who is the best canditate in all of this.

latinasojourn 02-11-2008 01:21 PM

the thing about obama that is very appealing to me is that you can see he can think on his feet.

his speeches are done mostly from outlines, and the stuff he says is not entirely politically expediant.

hillary is almost completely scripted in public, almost too careful.

big IQ, and i'll give him props for being forthright.

question: "did you inhale?"

low key serious answer: "yes, that was the point of it." no fuss, and then he takes another question.

no wonder many like his style. charisma with minimal BS.

no i hope once he's in he can get rid of affirmative action forever.

Good for Hardball with Chris Matthews for bringing up the caucus issues and the reality of how they work and the types of people who attend them.

I give them credit for at least not glossing over that fact which CNN tends to do far to much lately. Just present the facts and then let people decide what really is happening.

well, 15 minutes ago CNN was showing LIVE both obama and mccain stumping for votes and you could listen in on the speeches and environment.

and obama looked like the 2nd coming of christ, with a mass of all color of folks behind him hanging on his every word, and i must say he is a very charismatic speaker, captivating even...almost like a MLK who can appeal to whites.

and mccain (who i like very much) is simultaneously trotting out john warner who talks drearily about riding and drinking lemonade with ronald reagan on his horse farm. and the guys are old, and tired standing in front of the fighter jet prop on stage, and you can hear a pin drop, and it's almost so bad you feel sorry for them.

so i'll put my $ on obama all the way with this one.

and it won't even be close.

He is very captivating as a speaker. So much so that you tend to get so wrapped up in it, that you forget you didn't actually hear much substance and instead were fed a bunch of rhetoric. Reminds me of a guy could be car salesman of the year almost annually. Plays to emotion and not substance. Which can be very uplifting and seemingly rewarding, but when push comes to shove and rhetoric takes the backseat how much of a good decision will it ultimately be? Hopefully there is no buyers remorse on this purchase.

I however still don't think after the 3 big states, that Obama will be ahead.
