Did $ 250 with poker today

I learned to play this French game one week ago and today I did 250 bucks :)

Maybe it's the newbie luck. :winkwink:

Do you do a decent monthly profit with poker?

PD: And yes, it's French.

I watched my friend the other day turn 50 dollars in 4300 in just over 2 hours. It was a total fluke but so fucking funny.. Used it to pay off debt, go figure. :2 cents:

I shared an apartment with a good friend of mine who are making $10-$50k/month.

For obvious reasons he moved into something bigger :)

The spread is enourmous and sometimes he is down to "only" $10k profit which is not much playing NL1000 (only 10 buyins)

he is playing roughly 70-100k hands / month and have been playing 5 days a week for 3 years straight. It takes pratice and fucking hard work to do it, but if you have 5+ spare hours a day and are willing to use the first 6 months playing NL25 until you have made at least 100 buy ins well then I can only say go for it!!!

If you do not have the right amount of decipline or time for this then stop now or play occasionally for fun :)

I could never make it that far.

Good for you but it means nothing. You need to check out long-term results to see if you have any decent success.

newbie luck yes.. quit while you can!

I 6 x ed my money within the last 10 days, lost 20% of my total money today though because I was playing really bad.

I turn an average $2k in profits a month playing nothing but sit and go's on Full Tilt. I much prefer the tournaments of 90+...knockout style.

I play very low limit though. $20 buy in's for $250 pots... I hit the final table 1 of 3 times.

Just don't ever play poker with money you can't afford to lose :)

How much should you buyin for to get started and what limit should you play?

I play mostly at Pokerstars, just played a couple of sit & go's, i won one with 45 players, another one i finished 6 and lost 4 others (12 buy in)
It's up to you to calculate what i won :)

NTSS 02-11-2008 05:25 PM

there's no money in poker

shermo 02-11-2008 05:29 PM

For the record, I meant $10 buyins for $250 pots in knockout format. ;)

I just play 2 at a time nightly to help wind down before bed. I used to play much heavier, but now it's just for enjoyment and some extra fuckaround money. I still hit the casinos a few times a month and try to prey on some Vegas fish.
