Why do people have to do this shit!

If anyone knows who owns this domain and this person is. It would be appreciated if you could let me know. My laywer is looking for an address to send some paper work.

This company is ripping off our company name, and even our non adult company name. They are copying verbage from our site as well as getting typo traffic from our advertising campaigns.

www.adultdesigngroup.com

My company is Adult Design Group. Our domain is www.adultdesigngroup.ca.
This has been the name of my company since 1998, which you will see stated on their site now. This company has not been around since 1998.

Some of our clients include: Video Secrets, Randy Blue, JUB Media, Just Us Boys, Pride Bucks, Adult Check, Tri Tech Internet (Cyber Age, UGAS TV), Chi Chi LaRue, Male Flixxx, AsianGuys.com, Falcon XXX, Global Male Pass, Man Sites, South Beach Media, Vibe Media, and many many more.

I am sure many of my clients and friends will vouge for this.

I am tired of scammers and bullshitters coming into this industry to rip off other peoples work and names.

You've been online since '98 and you own the .ca. I just have one question...

Why didn't you buy the .com?

6foot4 02-10-2008 06:44 PM

Being Canadian... we went with the .ca. A few years later when I realized the .com would have been a betterr choice. it was taken

CDSmith 02-10-2008 06:46 PM

Looks like it was registerd in 2003....

Brujah 02-10-2008 06:47 PM

Hey 6foot4, good to see you're still around. :)

MikeVega 02-10-2008 06:47 PM

he's got the .com .. you should have gotten it .. it sucks but...

is he stealing text from your site or just the same name because to be honest if i thought of a company name and the .com was available i wouldn't even look at anything else other then the .net maybe .. and with that domain what other type of site would you expect it to be ..

BlackCrayon 02-10-2008 06:49 PM

Please, you really think that is an orignal name and you are the first to use it?

Okay one more question...

Did you trademark your company name?

digifan 02-10-2008 06:52 PM

Hey man, nice to see you :)

6foot4 02-10-2008 06:53 PM

Hey Brujah... been a while.

Hope all is well :)
Don't come on this board much... you will see why by the commments.. LOL

L-Pink 02-10-2008 06:54 PM

Why would you build a site around anything but .com is a better question.

6foot4 02-10-2008 06:56 PM

Because.. I was foolish :) And liked .ca being Canadian.

Obviously a mistake. We live and learn.

I hope that's not levelled at my comments, I'm not trying to give you the gears here, I'm trying to see if you stand a hope in hell of doing anything about your dilema.

Because this very well may be one of those cases where you have to say "Shit, I wish I'd reg'd the .com when I had the chance" and just learn to deal with the consequences.

If you trademarked your company name that could change everything though.

CDSmith 02-10-2008 06:58 PM

In answer to your original question (in the thread title)

-- because a lot of people are, in general, fucking annoying.

6foot4 02-10-2008 06:58 PM

Hey CDSmith. I know what you are saying. Was not directed at you.

Yeah.. i know I messed up there.
the trademark stuff is in the works. Unfortunately only started that recently.

Ah, then I guess all you can do is go with what your lawyer says.

Contact info for the owner of the .com is in that link I posted, in case you didn't click yet.

Looks like a Toronto boy got you.

6foot4 02-10-2008 07:08 PM

yeah that info is false. We tried reaching them already.
They are close.. so we are going to go for a visit.

The ICQ on the site says some guy inn the US.
So its a wild goose chase I am sure.

dav3 02-10-2008 07:10 PM

Be sure to update this thread, I'm kinda curious about the conclusion.

Well shit ...... I can't think of anything help-wise. Typeing in .com is so natural that you will always loose traffic. Good luck and think of something!

6foot4 02-10-2008 07:21 PM

I have thought of lots :) thanks for the input from the helpful ones.

Hey Digifan :) Been a while.

Are they scammers? Can you prove that? The mods have been banning a lot of people lately who call someone a scammer without backing it up.

Raja 02-10-2008 08:11 PM

bump for one of the best designers I know.

Craig T 02-10-2008 08:13 PM

I'm guessing none of you know how to help. All he asked was if anyone knew who the company was so his lawyer could contact them.

Jumping in with your personal opinions and guesses about what he should or shouldn't of done, wasn't the question.

6 foot 4, I'll ask around and see if anyone knows of them, and you and your group and can talk to theirs. That's how it works.

As for someone copying your site, well, anyone that defends that isn't thinking clearly. They knew what they were doing when they registered it, especially when they found out you existed. Some think that is okay, but we all take it personal when it happens to us.

Good luck finding them so you can work it out.

I know you've done great work for us, and I'd use you anytime.

When you raise an issue on a message board it's a given that people are going to ask a few questions and render a few opinions, asked or not. That's the way things work. Don't like it? Maybe you should just work out your deal yourself then and leave it off the board.

Some of us were only trying to help. And no one is "defending" the copying of a site, if that is what has indeed happened.

6foot4 seems okay with the discussion about this, why aren't you?

Hey sexy,

No idea who owns it, but i tried to visit the URL and it just reads FORBIDDEN. Was there anything on that domain? If not you should just try to buy the domain from them (if you can locate them).

Good luck handsome ;)

sup brotha ... not sure how i can help but hate to see this bullshit ... but opportunity knocks and opportunistic people are not always the kind to help old ladies cross the street ... anyways if anyone doubts this is the real ADG whos been around since the stone ages, then i guess i recommend some branding "canucks who deliver" thats catchy ... with a maple leaf in the logo (im not joking, branding matters!) ... most established people know who you are ... and maybe you need to visit here more often and just ignore the doosh bags. its the best webmaster forum if you take the doosh bags with a grain of salt :2 cents: for example, you came here when it was time to bring this problem to everyones attn ...

kick the guys ass on websearches and advertising and then it becomes a non-issue, no?

keep your horns up paul :)

GUNNER 02-11-2008 05:56 PM

Thieves and scammers suck. Sometimes there seems to be an endless supply of them in in this industry.

craigslist.org
thehun.net
and so on...

although if you're going for a non-dotcom address it's a REALLY good idea to own the .com as well... for reasons such as the one that launched this thread.

Hope you can wrest the domain from the squatters...

Phoenix 02-11-2008 08:40 PM

Seems my letter to them and this post made them pull their site.
Thanks to all who backed me up.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

6foot4 02-12-2008 08:34 AM

Sounds good. Is there anyone on their end we all need to avoid doing business with?

Because when all is said and done that was a pretty shady thing they pulled on you, and it's a shame when these things get buried and forgotten, and then a few months later someone else is on here with a similar complaint against the same guy or company.

Your call.
