FYI CGI is not a language. What language do you want this script in? If you're just wanting to invoke sendmail or whatever mail system you're using, any scripting language would probably be sufficient. If you're wanting to send a massive amount of emails, Perl would probably be a better choice.

Hey Venus,
Check out this script - it might be something you'd be able to use. We do on a non-profit site and it works great! http://www.listmessenger.com/ |
thanks, I looked at it and its would not work for me.
I have email list programs I use, but this is different. in a nutsell a person adds in their information, horse info, puts a button on their site, when the horse is having a baby people can push an alert button and an email alert goes out to everyone who sunscribed saying the date and time and gives the link to the persons barncam Quote:

Horses and porn don't go together. At least, not in my book :1orglaugh

If you want to be taken out of the loop for sending emails like you described above, then you'll need a custom program. I couldn't find any for you while I was surfing around.
But, as I sit here thinking, you really don't need the script to function that way. chance are, the recipients aren't sitting around waiting for someone else to push their "we're having a pony" button on their website so it doesn't need to function any quicker than a standard list messenger script. All you'd have to do is create groups - sorted by horse breed and your users sign up for the breed of horse they're interested in. When a pony is on the way, they send you an email and you forward it out to the appropriate breed list. |
