MacBook Air showed up yesterday!

Fedex man brought me a present yesterday...MacBook Air.

coolest things so far are the solid state hdd makes it dead silent and i had my blackberry curve sitting on the table next to it, and the laptop is actually thinner.

confession though is...i ordered it because it looked cool, I don't know how to use a mac :helpme
maybe after i stare at it for a few more days I may have to give it away to a NicheBucks affiliate.

Sosa 02-08-2008 10:25 AM

whats the going rate for one of them?

bobby666 02-08-2008 10:27 AM

it starts at $ 1799

MaDalton 02-08-2008 10:30 AM

i'll take it :glugglug

Clark 02-08-2008 10:32 AM

two models one at $1799 but I got suckered into the solid state hdd and I think slightly faster processor which made it $3k

Babaganoosh 02-08-2008 10:35 AM

I hated mac until I installed quicksilver.

Check it out, spend some time learning how to use it and you will fall in love with your mac. Once you are using it as more than just a task launcher it is absolutely amazing.

beta-tester 02-08-2008 10:36 AM

man that's amazing! Show us some pics.... MacBook Air is definitely the coolest product which has been made to date! Solid State HDD is monster.... man you gave around 1k for that thing only lol :)

Congratulations, you've definitely made a great purchase!

I'm not a mac user, but I was very close to buying one.

There's also boot camp, which will let you run whatever PC-based OS that you want to on your mac.

LilBro 02-08-2008 11:00 AM

after about 1 to 2 days of playing around you willl be a Mac Pro and kiss the FEDEX man next time u see him

Clark 02-11-2008 11:21 AM

I am by no means a photographer but it's thinner than my blackberry!!

those things you need an external HD for right?

Clark 02-11-2008 11:42 AM

mine's got an internal solid state 64gig, the other version is internal 80gig normal hdd. you do have to use an external dvd/cd drive

JFK 02-11-2008 11:47 AM

I love Mac's, the MacBook Air just doesn't tickle my nuts much....

All that you are paying for is the size of it, the MacBook has just as much, if not more power, in a slightly bigger condom and is half the price (of solid state). I LOVE the MacBook Pro, it is a powerhouse x10. I am getting the iMac 24", can't wait :)

Axeman 02-11-2008 12:42 PM

I am leaning more and more towards a mac for my next laptop I think.

martinsc 02-11-2008 12:45 PM

that looks nice :thumbsup

NETbilling 02-11-2008 01:09 PM

KILL_FRENZY 02-11-2008 01:36 PM

Congrats for your macbook air .That's an awesome laptop

Clark 02-11-2008 02:13 PM

I've been buying the small sony laptops for 10 years now but didn't want to switch to ms vista. I never considered a macbook or macbook pro because the didn't get any lighter than 5+ pounds so when I saw this one announced I jumped on it. so far the laptop is excellent, and I can see why folks like mac's os. I have no idea how different Leopard is then previous versions but it seems pretty nice.

How is its durability? Does the screen flex much? The screen on my Acer Travelmate is pretty sturdy, and when I was shopping around lately I played with some HPs and Sonys and their screens all had quite a lot of flex in them. It looks like if you put it in a laptop bag with something reasonable on top, the screen would get damaged from the inside-out.

Anyways, ramble over. Any thoughts on how sturdy the Air is?

feels more sturdy than i thought i would. the little sony tx i was looking at seemed to flex quite a bit and scared me.

mine's getting the cigar and scotch test right now so I'll let you know how it holds up to booze spills and ash on the keyboard

Nice machine. I recently switched to mac myself and I've been pleasantly surprised at how much they have improved. I used macs at my day job back in 96 and at that time the damn things were crashing more than windows. But now that they have a unix core they seem pretty rock solid.
