Fucking HP laptops SUCK BALLS!!!!

So I bought a hp laptop after my dell got stolen. less then a year later the wireless card goes on it. So I send it back to them for repair and they LOOSE the fucking machine.

It takes them 2 1/2 months to replace it so Im on a rental that entire time. They finally replace it and 2 months later the new laptop has a hardware failure on it and i have to SEND IT BACK AGAIN.

What are the odds Ill ever see this machine again once it goes back

:mad::mad::mad::mad::321GFY:321GFY:321GFY:321GFY

fucking piece of crap hp

Xrated J 02-08-2008 09:58 AM

i have an hp dv8000 and love it. you back at home yet?

L-Pink 02-08-2008 09:59 AM

Not to make light of your situation but how does a service department lose a computer? I mean really, how?

CyberHustler 02-08-2008 10:04 AM

They lost your shit? Now you're scaring me.

They have had my laptop for over a month now. The god damn hard drive committed suicide within months of purchase. They keep telling me they don't have the piece they need to fix it yet and keep giving me another ETA every few days.

I was just about to call them too because today was another ETA they gave me.

My top of the line HP laptop was delivered with a dead harddrive but it was replaced within a few days. (I went directly to the HP service center in town).

However the quality of my HP laptop in general is terrible (I think) compared to Acer and some other brands. I wish I just stuck with Acer but I was blinded by the nice looks of the HP :Oh crap

rockbear 02-08-2008 10:11 AM

Damn I just bought a HP Pavillon 9428NR I hope I will not have those problems :(

mattz 02-08-2008 10:13 AM

Mine sucks too, the backlight or something in the monitor went out so I had to send it back to get fixed, got it back fixed in like 5 days though which isn't bad.

Yeah, I had to send mine to Texas somewhere and I'm in NYC. Lucky for them because I would have been raising hell in their center if they were located near me.

Sosa 02-08-2008 10:26 AM

I will never own a HP Laptop or Desktop. I have worked on so many of them, they are one of the worst building computers you can buy.

bobby666 02-08-2008 10:29 AM

i only can say the best about hp-support (here in europe)

Dubya 02-08-2008 10:32 AM

Had nothing but problems with my HP's...I would NEVER buy one again

D 02-08-2008 10:37 AM

My experience with HP differs.

Granted, I've only owned this laptop for about 6 months now - and I've never had to send it back to the shop - but I couldn't be happier, I don't think.

pornask 02-08-2008 10:42 AM

I had similar, only worse experience with a Sony laptop

Sony - in general - can suck a nut, imho.

Dealing with their customer support (multiple times) has got to be of the worst experiences I've ever gone through...

It's to the point where I'm now sworn off purchasing anything with a "Sony" stamp on it, provided I have the option.

What a nightmare.:Oh crap

sortie 02-08-2008 10:52 AM

Had an HP for about 4 years. Worked great.
I had a hard drive failure in the first year after I slapped it. :1orglaugh

I had to reformat the harddrive a few months ago because I couldn't boot up.
Somehow I think that was a windows problem because I reinstalled windows and the hardrive works fine.

sortie 02-08-2008 10:54 AM

PS: The click pads sucked! Always double clicking and right click not working until I did it a couple of times

CyberHustler 02-08-2008 10:55 AM

Well my Sony Vaio I had since '03 is still working as my backup and the only problem I've ever had with it is the battery life only lasts for about 10 minutes max now lol.

pornguy 02-08-2008 11:13 AM

I have an HP, that I just retired to my son. Got a virus, and needed to format, so I got a new one. It had a hardware failure 2 times, and they was fixed within a week each time. other than that is he been awesome. No issue with the wireless, in fact, the antenna for the wireless in that is better than in my dell.

The best way to get an idea of a system's reliability, or a manufacturer for that matter, is by checking out their refurbished section, or line-up!

HP has a HUGE one! Best Buy and many other retailers flog their massive and constantly growing list of system (lines) that have common problems! But don't take my word for it. Simply G00G ""HP refurb"", or ""refurbished"".

If on a budget, and you simply MUST buy prebuilt shit, buy a Dell! Yah, HP makes the odd good system, when they're luck! However, Dell has a much better track recored.

Better yet, do you self a favour and buy AlienWare!! Unlike the others just mentioned, they do not merely build around whatever cheap ass hardware they can get their grubby mitts on! They build rock solid monster!!

Another key selling feature is they do not litter the system with the obscure proprietary garbage (software, system setting, hardware) that HP does.

ztik 02-08-2008 11:31 AM

Damn I swear by HP and have used them for a while. On my 3rd one right now. Never any hardware problems

jakethedog 02-08-2008 11:38 AM

with out a lie .. HP 100% made me go MAC .. I bought one of their top of the line DV models and got an entire 5 months out of it .. working to keep it running the whole time .. drivers weren't working for this and that .. went to upgrade it to 64bit with the "upgrade DVD" and ended up having to call HP only to find out that the notebook wasn't ready to ... WTF .. it was sold and marketed as 64bit ready .. simple things like the webcam failed repeatedly .. fuck it was a nightmare from the first week on .. I gave it to my 3 year old to play games on .. my MACBook Pro absolutely slaughters it ..

testpie 02-08-2008 12:26 PM

I've never had a problem with my HP or Compaq laptops, although I do find it funny that the HP laptop is a Compaq model, and the Compaq laptop is an original HP model.

sitefarmer 02-08-2008 12:28 PM

just get another dell.. I have heard about that HP recall some models..

alienware is overpriced for wannabe gamers.

Danny_C 02-08-2008 01:25 PM

I'm on my 3rd HP laptop, and I've had two Dells and an Acer. The Acer was the worst of the bunch, and the HP's have been the best.

DigitalDruid 02-08-2008 02:52 PM

Hp is for printers, I would never buy a PC or laptop of theirs.

I've never used an HP laptop. Only a desktop. Never had problems with it.

D Ghost 02-08-2008 08:15 PM

I Agree!

MissMina 02-08-2008 08:57 PM

I fell ya. 6 months after I got my HP laptop the HD went on it. Had to take it to the Geek Squad to get my shit off of it because there was irreplacable photos on it. So that cost me almost 200.00. Fuckers. Then after that about a year later my backlight went. Other than that no issues.

OMG the same shit just happened to me. The thing wouldn't power up. They replaced the plastic cover, webcam, dvd drive, and hard disk. Those had nothing to do with the powerup problem. It came back and the douche bags left a paper screen on the webcam lens and forgot to put a couple of the dust caps on. I've been without it for 5 months now. Can definitely relate. :321GFY

Maybe if you can afford to pay the price of a new car for an un-upgradable computer...

CyberHustler 02-09-2008 09:28 AM

Guess what? My damn lap top didn't get here yesterday. But no worries, new ETA is the 22nd... :Oh crap

Rui 02-09-2008 09:54 AM

I wonder about the logistics about the support center you sent it to :X

I had mine picked at home (no cost) for repair, lets see if they fuck it up (I'm must say given how they dealt with the process so far I'm pretty confident!)

dtoolbox 02-09-2008 11:38 AM

IBM is the best way to buy good laptop.
Thinkpad!!!!!

trix 02-09-2008 05:17 PM

My boyfriend's HP laptop went out in early December (one week shy of the first year). They outsource their support to India and if you have a Southern accent like me, you are in trouble. Got it back, wouldn't load.

Long story short, this is the fourth return and he hasn't had a working computer 2 weeks out of 2 months. This time it is getting replaced but you lose all the programs and templates. Still another week before it comes back. Yes, they paid shipping both ways but what the fuck.

This is our fourth try with "no power up". They kept replacing the wrong stuff. Two and a half months now.

Miguel T 02-09-2008 06:03 PM

I have a HP Pavilion 9000 Series and it's the best thing I have ever bought! Around 2500$ and it is worth it.

Forgot to mention that the third out of fourth problem we got upgraded to an American supervisor who said he would send us a new hard drive via fedex (no computer return required). A week later we found out that that was totally undocumented and they don't send out parts. WTF!

(My desktop is an HP and no problems)

natas 02-09-2008 09:38 PM

I'd never get an HP, heard way too many bad stories about them.

My trusty Dell laptop has been on almost permanently now for coming up to 2.5 years without ONE single problem. This machine goes on, and on, and on.

I would definately buy Dell again, or I'm strongly thinking about a Mac next :thumbsup
