I'm kind of in my own ecosphere:1orglaugh. Just like anything else imho. Just another way to get the job done. The language I learned first after fucking around with BASIC :) Does it perform better? I guess that would depend on many factors but I'm not going to argue:thumbsup .
I like the language, I don't feel limited and if you have wings you can fly, I feel limited with anything else when I sit down to write something. I like PHP because you don't need a container ... no need to compile anything and its appropriate for most gigs on the Internets .... Java has a big learning curve.
For some reason I can deal with Java Programmers better than PHP programmers If I'm stuck working with someone. Not saying they are difficult just my opinion for the most part based on my experience... yes I've met PHP programmers I can get along with too
